NATIONAL HERITAGE COUNCIL (NHC) of South Africa through the NHC Act, 1999 (Act of 1999), is responsible for the preservation, protect and promotion of heritage for sustainable development.
The National Heritage Council has a vacancy for Accountant to provide assistance to the Finance Manager and responsible for the management and costing and depreciation of fixed and current assets, revenue and cash management;
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Financial Management and controls on fiscal allocation for the operations of the NHC
  • Achievement of unit’s operational plans
  • Maintain NHC’s culture within the unit
  • Support the Finance Division
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • B. Com Degree in Accounting 
  • 5-8 years working experience in Accounting / Finance
  • Microsoft Excel - Advanced
  • MS Office 
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • General Ledger functions 
  • Establish and maintain tables of accounts and ensure that entries are assigned to proper accounts.
  • Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Year – end adjusting journals 
  • Financial norms and standards
  • Financial and Management accounting knowledge and skills
  • Understanding of Corporate Governance
  • Public Finance Management Act, Financial
  • Delegations, Basic Accounting Skills and Accuracy.
  • Understanding of the strategic delivery requirements of NHC
  • Responsible for the annual audit process
  • Information systems management such as MS word, Power Point, Pastel, Excel

ACCOUNTING CLERK

The National Heritage Council has a vacancy for Accounting Clerk to provide assistance to the Finance Manager and responsible for the management and costing and depreciation of fixed and current assets, revenue and cash management;
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Information Management 
  • Data Verification
  • Accounts Management
  • Clearing of ledger suspense accounts; 
  • Provide financial support to the Finance Division
  • Petty Cash management
  • Reconciliation of petty cash, debtors and creditors
  • Daily processing of cashbooks, petty cash, Corporate Cards and all Accounts up to Trial Balance
 
 JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • 3-year Degree or National Diploma (NQF 6) in Accounting coupled with 1-2 years’ appropriate experience.
  • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury regulations and financial Systems; 
  • Computer and good communication skills; 
  • Knowledge of Basic Accounting System; 
  • The ability to interpret and apply financial policy and procedures;
  • The ability to work as a team member 
  • Computer literate
  • Good telephone Etiquette
  • Verbal and written communication skills

GRADUATE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME: FINANCE

The National Heritage Council (NHC) based in Hatfield Pretoria is implementing a Graduate Development programme as part of its contribution to skills development initiative. 
            
FINANCE INTERN
 
About the job:
The NHC has a vacancy for an Intern position in the Finance unit. The purpose of the role is to receive and record invoices. The incumbent will process invoices and liaise with service providers. Assist in the administration work for record keeping.
This position is in Hatfield Pretoria.
The National Heritage Council invites graduates to apply for a 24 months’ internship opportunity to commence on 01 May 2022 to 31 March 2024.
 
Requirements: Unemployed graduates who have successfully completed a three (3)-year Degree in the Accounting/ Financial Management/Financial Accounting field and who are between the ages of 18 and 35 years may apply. South Africans citizen by birth may apply.
Students that still need to finish or qualify for a Degree or National Diploma should not apply. Applicants with 0 to 1-year work experience are encouraged to apply.
 
 
Monthly stipend: R6,500.00 per month
