1. ADVANCING B-BBEE

- Limit formal complaints on all received applications to no more that 3% of total applications screened for the period.
- Ensure that acknowledgement letters are sent to clients within 3 days.
- Ensure that majority of packaged applications that were referred to the Funds should be approved by an Investment Committee;
- At least 50% of approved deals must have been presented by the Regional Manager to an Investment Committee.
- Help ensure that deals approved are committed within required turnaround times;
- Help ensure that deals approved and committed are disbursed to clients within required turnaround times.
2. MAXIMIZING THE EMPOWERMENT DIVIDEND

- Effective marketing of the Regional Office by facilitating & coordinating NEF events and presentation in the Province and Activities should be captured in Quarterly Report;

- Ensure that NEF’s Head Office culture is replicated in the Regional Office.
4. FINANCIAL EFFECIENCY & SUSTAINABILITY
4.1 Regional Portfolio Monitoring

4.2 Empowerment Dividend

4.3 Credit Control and Impairments
- Assist in completing the Portfolio Impairments model on a quarterly basis;
- Work closely with the Legal Department on litigation matters with a view to maximising legal collections and bring these matters to closure;
- Ensure that you meet your collection and impairment rates targets per year.
5. INTERNAL PROCESSES PERSPECTIVE
5.1 Operate within allocated budget
Expenses at allocated budget should not be exceeded.
5.2 Adherence to Systems and Procedures and management responsibilities
- 100% of suppliers engaged should have proper documentation and processes followed;
- Managed all existing Contracts and SLA’s.

Introduction
The National Empowerment Fund is looking for an Investment Associate who will join the KZN Regional Office team. The incumbent will be responsible for screening and processing regional applications as well as referring applications that meet requirements to the Funds for further consideration. Also monitoring the NEF investment portfolio within the province.
Job description
- Performing eligibility screening of new applications for funding in terms of NEF’s criteria and mandate.
- Perform commercial screening of applications in terms of NEF’s commercial assessment, framework, and generate reports for assessed application, with recommendations on whether the applications should be accepted or rejected.
- Prepare financial analysis as part of the commercial screening process of new applications.
- Call applicants to request information and meet as well as advice applicants where applicable.
- Perform desk top research using search engines such as Google, INet Bridge, etc. to obtain industry information required in the assessment of applications.
- Identify risks on applications and make recommendations to Regional Manager in respect of way forward.
- Build networks in Kwa-Zulu Natal and source good deal flow for the NEF.
- Attend conferences and seminars that are part of the Pre-Investment Business Support.
- Resolve complaints that cannot be resolved by Product Advisor and provide Pre-Investment mentorship to applicants where necessary.
- Perform business valuations for applicants.
- Conduct post investment due diligence and monitoring of all investments in the regional office portfolio.
- Conduct due diligence on applications from existing investees for further funding and obtain approval from the relevant committees per the DOA.

- Conduct effective portfolio management to reduce the portfolio risk of the NEF in conjunction with the POIU.
- Maintain CRM (Customer relationship management) with all existing investees.

Experience/Skills required
- 3 years’ experience on 2 or more of the following areas: SME funding/deal making/ investment environment, business banking, venture capital environment and/or development finance,
- 3 years’ experience in managing an SME portfolio.
- Good understanding of the investment process especially as it relates to SME funding.
