NATIONAL CREDIT REGULATOR (NCR)
 
The National Credit Regulator (NCR) was established as the regulator under the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (the Act) and is responsible for the regulation of the South African credit industry. It is tasked with carrying out education, research, policy development, registration of industry participants, i.e. credit providers, credit bureaux, alternative dispute resolution agents, payment distribution agents and debt counsellors, investigation of complaints, and enforcement of the Act. The Act requires the NCR to promote the development of an accessible credit market, particularly to address the needs of historically disadvantaged persons, low income persons, and remote, isolated or low density communities. 
 
The NCR invites applications from suitable candidates for the following position:
 
Position: Junior Monitoring Officer
Paterson Grade: C-Lower
Salary ranges from R159 100 – R302 300 maximum

Requirements:
 The suitable candidate must hold a 3-year degree or diploma in law, compliance, business or related with at least 2 years’ relevant experience, ideally in a regulatory environment or in the financial services sector.
 A valid driver’s licence is a must.
 Debt counselling process experience will be an added advantage.
 
Duties:
 Conduct compliance monitoring of debt counsellors with the NCA and conditions of registration.
 Analyse reports, documents, information and data received from debt counsellors and various other sources.
 Draft compliance monitoring related documents.
 Provide administrative support on the compliance monitoring process of credit providers, debt counsellors and payment distribution agents.
 Conduct research on industry related topics and trends.
 Assist with ad-hoc projects within the department.
 Participate in stakeholder engagements.
 
 
Knowledge:
 National Credit Act, particularly the debt counselling process.
 Compliance monitoring and investigations principles and processes.
 
Skills:
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 Report writing skills.
 Ability to work under pressure with little supervision.
 Interpersonal relations.
 Computer literacy.
 Strong personal and professional ethics.
 Presentation skills.
