Total Remuneration Package: R785,403.80 per annum
The National Consumer Tribunal (NCT) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Finance Officer to join our team on a six-month fixed-term contract. This pivotal role involves overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities As the Senior Finance Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensuring timely and accurate payments and managing banking relationships to maintain sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Preparing and maintaining financial schedules to support balances and disclosures in the Annual Financial Statements.
- Monitoring cash flow and ensuring compliance with tax regulations, accounting standards and internal financial policies.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining effective internal controls to safeguard organisational assets.
- Managing the Fixed Asset Register and ensuring the timely execution of business unit plans.
- Compiling and updating performance information for submission to the Finance Manager/CFO.
- Supervising and mentoring finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Coordinating training and development programs to enhance the team’s technical capabilities.
- Promoting effective collaboration and communication across the finance team and other business units.
Requirements To excel in this role, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- Completed articles and at least 5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., SAGE) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong leadership, team management, communication and interpersonal skills.
