Total Remuneration Package:R338 845.44 
 
The National Consumer Tribunal (NCT)is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Case Officer to join our team on a permanent basis. This aim of this role is to support Case Management in ensuring that the NCT cases are conducted efficiently and according to the statutory rules of procedure and the Tribunal Guide to Proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately assess, verify and manage new cases, filings and correspondences in compliance with Tribunal
  • Prepare and issue notices, letters and judgment directives to relevant parties as approved by the Case
  • Ensure case files are properly indexed, referenced, and forwarded to the Case Manager for approval or to the Registry for
  • Provide hearing support to Tribunal members, including preparation of hearing reports, declarations of interest, attendance registers, and witness oath processes when needed. Compile and report on case progress regularly (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to the Case Manager.
  • Conduct research and analysis of Tribunal cases as required and provide legal opinions when needed.
  • Conduct Debt Counsellor training sessions and provide training to stakeholders to address any deficiencies in their filings.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for stakeholders and workshops, contributing to capacity- building and strategic planning
  • Participate positively in workshops and provide input to business planning and policy development based on case trends and
  • Provide policy inputs related to the National Credit Act (NCA) and Consumer Protection Act (CPA) for approval by the Deputy
  • Offer insights on policy amendments based on the cases handled, ensuring that any issues or concerns are
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, procedures and relevant regulations of the Tribunal.
  • Compile performance reports to meet organisational objectives and contribute to the ongoing assessment of case
  • Maintain accurate records, ensuring case files and all documentation comply with Tribunal policies and are correctly
 
Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must possess:    
  • LLB Degree.
  • At least 1 – 2 years’ experience in a legal and regulatory
  • The ability to process applications promptly and
  • Attention to
  • Excellent ability to analyse and evaluate information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear
  • Proficiency in conducting thorough
  • The ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks
  • Strong understanding of legal interpretation, applications and common
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative instruments and procedural
