MINISTERIAL REPRESENTATIVE (1) TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF MOHAIR TRUST
 
The National Agricultural Marketing Council’s unit dealing with Agricultural Industry Trusts has a mandate to facilitate the communication process between the Agricultural Trusts and the Minister of the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD). Among other things, Agricultural Industry Trusts unit is expected to facilitate the process of the appointment of Ministerial Trustees. This release is aimed at fulfilling that activity regarding the Mohair Trust.
 
OBJECTIVES OF THE MOHAIR TRUST:
 
 The main objective of the Mohair Trust is to manage the assets so that income is optimised for the advancement of the Mohair industry by promoting mohair production within the Republic of South Africa and stimulating demand for mohair inside and outside of South Africa. In support of this main objective, the Trust has the following supplementary objectives: 
1. The promotion and maintenance of quality standards; 
2. The promotion of international relations which will serve to benefit the mohair industry; 
3. Liaising and market development between producers, dealers, brokers, purchasers and manufacturers of mohair; 
4. The collection, processing and dissemination of reliable marketing and production statistics in respect of mohair; 
5. Promotion of research and the production of mohair; 
6. The granting of financial assistance – 
a) With regard to research related to the improvement, production, manufacturing, storage and marketing of mohair; 
b) To institutions established or which arise to promote the mohair business; 37 
7. The establishment of an information service in order to inform producers periodically regarding general marketing conditions or the state of the mohair industry in particular; 
8. Financial assistance shall be granted in order to promote stability in the mohair industry, to 
a) Producers through mechanisms which may include – 
i. The provision and implementation of a floor price system through voluntary participation of producers; and 
ii. The operation of voluntary marketing pools for the sale of mohair 
 
QUALIFYING CRITERIA TO SERVE AS A MINISTERIAL TRUSTEE:
(a) Be a South African citizen;
(b) Understand and/or be able to analyse & interpret the financial statements and investments;
(c) At least 5 years’ experience in agriculture, land reform and rural development;
(d) Should have knowledge and understanding of transformation policies of the government;
(e) Possess a desire to advocate and advance the needs of smallholder farmers in the mohair industry;
(f) Not be an immediate family member nor be involved in a business venture with NAMC members;
(g) Be influential and able to work effectively as a member of a team;
(h) Willingness to accept Trustee duties and responsibilities; and
(i) Understand agricultural Trusts, statutory levies and their objectives.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES OF MINISTERIAL TRUSTEES:
(a) Ministerial Trustee have a legal obligation to take shared responsibility for the Agricultural Industry Trusts in which they represent the Minister on, and must ensure that;
i. The Trust pursues its objectives or purposes as set out in the Trust deed;
ii. The assets of the Trust are protected and used exclusively to pursue its purposes; and
iii. The Trust complies with the law and its governing documents.
(b) The Ministerial Trustees should be available for the meetings and report to the NAMC regarding the key issues discussed and Mohair taken during the meeting;
(c) Report to the NAMC regarding activities of the Mohair Trust on a continuous basis;
(d) Ensure that Agricultural Industry Trusts’ and levy funds are utilised in a manner that is consistent with objectives of the Trusts deed and that transformation projects are undertaken in accordance with the transformation charters for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.

TERMS OF MINISTERIALTRUSTEES:
The terms of the Ministerial Trustees differ from one Trust to another and are guided by the Trust Deed of each Trust. Ministerial Trustees may serve only two consecutive terms and the reappointment is subject to the performance and commitment of the Trustee in the first term. The Trustee who has served for two consecutive terms will normally not stand for reappointment.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT (CASSAVA PROJECT) 
Salary Negotiable Reporting to Project Manager

Qualifications & Experience: 
Honours Degree in Agricultural Economics or an equivalent qualification (Economics), Master's degree in Agricultural Economics will be an added advantage. 1-2 years of experience in Agricultural economics-related research skills such as data collection, data analysis, and writing skills. 
 
Purpose:
The Research Assistant will assist with collecting, data analysis, interpreting and analysing research data, contributing to the writing of research reports, and manuscripts for publications and coordinating liaison with the relevant stakeholders. 
 
Skills & Knowledge: 
Knowledge of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act. Knowledge and understanding of Policies, Procedures and Legislation within the agricultural sector. Research and analytical skills, knowledge and practical applications of Statistical packages such as STATA and MS Excel, among other statistical analytical packages. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills. Project Management. Problem-Solving. Stakeholder management. Presentation and facilitation skills. Data collection skills. Skills in data analysis and interpretation of results. Report writing skills. 
 
The successful candidate will be expected to amongst others 
• Assist with data gathering, interpretation and analysis of data. 
• Conduct literature reviews on agricultural economics-related topics. 
• Provide effective and timely research support to specific projects/programmes and develop well-researched sections of /and reports. 
• Liaison with relevant stakeholders on issues pertaining to agriculture. 
• Assist with the identification of market access opportunities for various commodities as per stakeholder needs. 
• Assist with the design of market linkage schemes and produce reports as required.
• Coordinate and facilitate linkages between the emerging producers and buyers of agricultural produce in order to achieve Government’s objectives. 
• Produce various projects/programme reports as required. 
• Contribute to the write-up of the reports.

​Agriculture Agro-processing Master Plan (AAMP) Secondment Advertisement. 

 
The National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) seeks to appoint suitably qualified individuals to be seconded to the Agriculture Agro-processing Master Plan (AAMP). The incumbents will report to the Project Manager. These are internal secondments and no external applicants will be considered. 
 
INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION COORDINATOR 
 
Purpose: To coordinate the commitments and implementation activities by industry, government, and other social partners in line with NAMC Transformation Guidelines and AAMP Objectives and Targets. 
 
Requirements: A Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics or equivalent is a minimum requirement and 3-5 years minimum experience in the Industry Transformation and Project Management environment. 
 
Duties: Coordinate commitments and implementation activities by industry, government, and other social partners in line with NAMC Transformation Guidelines. Coordinate and oversee industry and government spending on transformation and sectoral development. Forge partnerships between the state and industry on transformation. 
 
 
 
PRODUCTION SCHEME COORDINATOR 
 
Purpose: To facilitate production scheme coordination services in accordance with the AAMP goals, objectives, deliverables and resources. 
 
Requirements: An Honours Degree in Agricultural Economics or equivalent is a minimum requirement. 2-3 years minimum experience working with Production Schemes and Project Management. 
 
Duties: Coordinate the establishment of the Production Scheme by government and industry guidelines in the representation of social partners. Coordinate the funding for Production Schemes. Ensure Production Schemes drive transformation as stipulated in the AAMP. Support AAMP Project Manager in engaging stakeholders. 
 
 
 
 
RESEARCH AND VALUE CHAIN COORDINATOR 
 
Purpose: Provide research and value chain analysis services in accordance with the AAMP goals, objectives, deliverables and resources. 
 
Requirements: A Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics or equivalent is a minimum requirement. 3-5 years minimum experience in research-based value chain analysis and mapping, financial product development, export marketing, developing community-based economic initiatives and the Project Management environment. 
 
Duties: Coordinate the research and impact analysis of the Agriculture Agro-processing Master Plan (AAMP) on agriculture as stipulated in the AAMP Plan. Coordinate the research and expert analysis on outstanding matters forming track 2 of the AAMP – mainly transformation levy, labour and employment measures, infrastructure funding and others. Coordinate the undertaking oft value chain analysis, identify existing initiatives and gaps within various value chains, collaboratively design sustainable, comprehensive interventions that activate viable and sustainable value chains and improve and expand existing research partnerships. 
 
HUMAN CAPITAL COORDINATOR 
 
Purpose: To support the AAMP Project Management Unit with the day-to-day HR operations and ensure that the HR needs of the project are addressed in a timely manner. 
 
Requirements: A 3-year National Diploma or B Degree in HRM/HRD, Industrial Relations or equivalent is a minimum requirement. 2-5 years experience in the HR environment. 
 
Duties: Managing all day-to-day HR administration tasks; ensuring that all employee and HR records are accurate and up to date. Assisting with the end-to-end recruitment process. Creating employee training materials under the guidance of the policies. Supporting performance management and payroll. 
 
 
 
SECRETARY
 
Purpose: To provide secretarial services such as drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, preparing minutes, and assisting with travel arrangements and claim submissions for the AAMP project. 
 
Requirements: A National Diploma in Administration or a related qualification. 1-2 years of generic experience applicable to the specific discipline. Knowledge and experience with relevant Microsoft software applications including spreadsheets and database management; and Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures. 
 
Duties: Effectively and efficiently manage correspondence with stakeholders and the shareholder pertaining to the project. Manage meeting arrangements including room bookings, catering requirements and sending invites to key attendees. Coordinate travel arrangements for both local and international travel including passport and visa assistance as required.
