INVITATION TO SERVE AS CHAIRPERSON: RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
 
The Risk Management Chairperson with the required expertise in Risk Management, Auditing, Accounting, Financial Management, Business Management, Engineering, Information Technology, And Legal

 
In terms of Sections 38 and 51 of the Public Finance Management Act, Act No 1 of 1999 as amended read together with Chapter 3.2.1 of the Treasury Regulations and Chapter 13 clause 24 (3) of the Public Sector Risk Management framework, the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport invites applications from the interested and suitably qualified persons (individuals not entities), from the following fields of study: Risk Management, Auditing, Accounting, Financial Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Legal, to serve as the Chairperson of the Risk Management Committee.
 
Requirements: Applicants must: - Have strong background and appropriate experience in their respective fields of study – Be independent and knowledgeable of the Enterprise Risk Management, Cooperate Governance, Public Sector Risk Management Framework, COSO model and Building environment. More than 5 years exposure in a risk management environment and demonstrate prior experience of serving on the oversight Committees – Display highest level of integrity and objectivity – Not be a political office bearer – Be a member of a recognized professional body – Have the best interest of the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport and share the enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference and assist the Department.
 
 
Responsibilities: The roles and responsibilities of the Risk Management Committee members are clearly outlined in the Risk Management Committee Charter and are in line with the Treasury Regulations and Public Sector Risk Management Framework. However, the candidate will chair the Department’s Risk Management Committee and provide an oversight role regarding the following; Monitor the implementation of risk management within the Department. Review relevant risk policies/strategies and other working procedures. Review risk management action plans to be instituted and ensure compliance with such plans. Integrate risk management into planning, monitoring and reporting process. Review risk appetite and tolerance levels of the Department. Implement risk maturity model. Provide reports to the Accounting Officer, Audit Committee on a quarterly basis and other management committees or other oversight committees.
 
Remuneration: The Chairperson will be remunerated in accordance with prescripts and guidelines of the National Treasury.
