The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified Research Practitioner. Reporting to the Executive Manager: Research, the successful candidate will assist the Research & Development Unit with conducting research, data analysis and overall research project coordination.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A Master’s degree in Social Sciences / Applied sciences or any other relevant qualification. A PHD Degree would be an added advantage. Minimum of three years’ research experience. Valid Driver’s License.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Good co-ordination and project management skills. Ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology and logical critical analysis. Ability to evaluate, verify, and edit research data. Ability to maintain quality, safety and data control standards. Ability to work independently, accurately and to problem solve technical and methodological issues that arise during any research project. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Project).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate research activities for the unit. Assist in writing research proposals and conducting research. Conduct data analysis and report writing. Assist in the development of material for mentorship program.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The successful candidate will be offered a permanent position with remuneration at DPSA level 10.

The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to secure the services of an experienced and suitably qualified South African Citizen to assist with – Statistical Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with research activities within the Econometrics and Statistical Service Unit. The role will be on a project and assignment basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a Honours Degree in Statistics/Economics or related field from an accredited tertiary institution. At least 2 years in research and data analysis role with a strong focus on data collection tool design, implementation, and statistical data analysis. Driver’s License.
CORE COMPENTENCIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Analysis and problem solving. Good understanding of the procedures used in gathering and reporting statistics. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and at least one statistical software package.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct assigned research; present research findings to relevant stakeholders. Assist with development and implementation of data collection systems to optimise to improve efficiency and data quality. Conduct data analysis and interpretation using statistical tools and provide reports. Assist with database management to ensure data quality and integrity. Provide project management support and assist with administrative duties related to a research project.

The successful candidate will be offered a fixed-term contract (up to 5 months) on a DPSA Consultation fee rate: B2.2 No Mark-up R368 p/h.

Conduct a Contribute towards the identification of key statistics and indicators (social and economic) for inclusion in the data portal. Conduct data preparation (clean and coded datasets) for the data portal. Database management system development and implementation. Assist with the ongoing management of the data portal to ensure data quality and integrity. Uploading datasets and updating the portal new data as it becomes available within the duration of the contract.
