Internship Opportunity: Skills Development and Research Intern
Invitation to Unemployed South African Citizen Graduates under the Age of 35 to Apply for the Skills Development and Research Internship Programme
Duration: 24 Months
Monthly Stipend: R8, 713.50
 
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that facilitates skills development under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), and supports mine health and safety under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) for the mining and minerals sector under Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998 and Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) 29 of 1996, respectively.  
 
 
Scope of Internship Programme
  • Assist with the administration of the Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs) submission process;
  • Assist with Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) and Organisation registration process
  • Organise events, including meetings and workshops;
  • Conduct primary and secondary research;
  • Write reports and presentations;
  • Liaise with MQA stakeholders and resolve customer queries; and
  • Provide administrative support not limited to filing, taking minutes and document control within the Skills Development and Research Unit.
 
Key Requirements
  • A grade 12 or matric certificate;
  • Minimum, National Diploma in Social Sciences, Commerce or Human Resources with Economics and/or Statistics or equivalent qualification at (NQF Level 6);
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Commerce or Human Resources with Economics and/or Statistics; or equivalent qualification at (NQF Level 7) will be an added advantage; and
  • Computer skills: Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project will be an advantage.

  • Demonstrate understanding of research process and ability to analyse different data sources using qualitative, quantitative and mixed method approaches
  • Administrative skills (planning or organising or event coordination, time management and logistical, filling); and
  • Some basic knowledge or understanding of the purpose of the sector skills plan as well as the workplace skills plan.
