The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) was established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) to advise the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) on health and safety at mines, on research programmes and the review of regulations pertaining to mine health and safety.
 
The MHSC is a Public Entity (Schedule 3A) according to the PFMA, and in terms of government funding received for administrative purposes, as legislated by the Mine Health and Safety Act. The MHSC is required to comply with Section 51 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Act 1 of 1999 as amended by Act 29 of 1999 and section 3 of the Treasury Regulations issued in terms of the PFMA.
 
The MHSC hereby invites applications from suitable qualified people wishing to serve on its Social and Ethics Committee (SEC).
 
Candidate Criteria:
  1. A postgraduate qualification in fields related to the work of the SEC (e.g. Economics, Finance, Health and Safety, environment, sociology, law, human resources, )
  2. 8 years’ public service (management level
  3. Experience in service in SEC
  4. An Ethics qualification will be an added advantage
 
Remuneration
SEC members will be remunerated in accordance with the rates determined by the Mine Health and Safety Council from time to time. Travelling on official duty will be reimbursed at rates determined by the Mine Health and Safety Council.
 
Term of Office
The term of office will be three (3) years, which is renewable depending on performance.
 
Selection Procedure
Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews to be conducted by a panel appointed by the Council. The final appointments will be made by the Council based on the recommendation of the interview panel.

NOTICE AND INVITATION TO SERVE ON THE AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE OF MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY COUNCIL (MHSC) REF: ARC/10/2025
 
The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) was established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) to advise the Minister of Minerals and Energy on health and safety at mines, on research programmes and the review of regulations pertaining to mine health and safety.
The MHSC is listed as a Public Entity (Schedule 3A) according to the PFMA, and in terms of government funding received for administrative purposes, as legislated by the Mine Health and Safety Act.
 
Job Purpose
The MHSC hereby invites applications from suitable qualified persons wishing to serve on its Audit Committee as registered in Section 51 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Act 1 of 1999 as amended by Act 29 of 1999 and section 3 of the Treasury Regulations issued in terms of the PFMA.
Requirements:
–       Demonstrable experience and knowledge of the Public service and Public entities will be a strong recommendation;
–       A Minimum of   8 years’ experience as a member of an Audit Committee in the public sector and / or public entity;
–       A post graduate qualification as well as CA(SA)
–       Demonstrable extensive knowledge of PFMA, National Treasury Regulations and GRAP;
–       Experience working and reporting to Board;
–       Proof of being in executive management at least 5 years; and
–       Membership with SAICA Mandatory
 
Remuneration
Audit Committee members will be remunerated in accordance with the rates determined by the National Treasury from time to time. Travelling on official duty will be reimbursed at rates determined by Department of Transport.

Job Purpose
To Manage the Inspection of the buildings. Manage and control the service and maintenance of contractors. Manage and control of building installations and execution of building relevant activities as predetermined by the Manager and Assets Management. Provide, Maintain and develop a number of different services such as Assets strategy, Office Space management,  infrastructure, building maintenance, Testing and inspections, Building administration, Contract management, management of health and safety infrastructure  , Security infrastructure , Business continuity planning, Managing renovations and refurbishments. Protect and preserve the critical assets of the organization, Ensure the timely update and maintenance of the asset register, Ensure effective Asset monitoring, planning & control and    Ensure adherence to the Asset Management SOP.
 
The incumbent will report to: Chief Financial Officer.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric
  • A relevant diploma.
  • 2 to 3 years in Facilities Management
 
Additional requirements
  • Knowledgeable on PFMA, OHSA and relevant acts including safety, fire and emergency procedures.
  • Knowledgeable on technology of the building, space planning and project management.
  • Computer Literate
  • Driver License
  • SAFMA membership will be advantageous
