Mayibuye Transport Corporation is a provincial public entity under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transport — Eastern Cape whose objective is to provide and maintains the highest possible standards in the provision of an effective, efficient and safe passenger transport service to the Eastern Cape communities on selected routes.
 
Applications from suitable candidates are hereby invited for the position of:
 
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
FIVE YEARS PERFOMANCE BASED CONTRACT
(SALARY PACKAGE BASED ON TOTAL COST TO COMPANY)
PATERSON GRADE E-2

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
• To oversee and co-ordinate the activities of the Operations and Engineering functions of the Corporation with a view to achieving harmony, synergy and cooperation between these functions.
 
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Oversee and ensure the development and implementation of an economical, effective, efficient, accountable and performance-driven corporation operations and engineering services.
• Ensure the effective operation of the buses and effective administration of the depots
• Oversee the implementation of the Corporation's Performance Management System within the Engineering /Operations department
• Oversee the development and implementation of the department's operational plans as well as the design and implementation of operational improvement initiatives.
• Develop and implement integration systems and process to ensure synergy and harmony between the two organizational functions.
• Undertake institution -support research to support the development and implementation of organisational strategies.
• Co-ordinate cross-functional projects and programmes.
• Oversee the day-to-day functions of the operations and engineering functions of the corporation.

 
QUALIFICATION(S) AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• An appropriate Post Graduate qualification in Business Management or equivalent
• Five year's relevant experience in a Senior Management and/or Executive level
• Advanced Business Knowledge in the management of the operations in a commuter bus service.
• An MBA/MBL or Executive Management Development Programme an added advantage
 
OTHER ATTRIBUTES
• Advanced leadership skills and strategic thinking abilities.
• Thoroughly understanding and ability to interpret the Corporation's Engineering and Operations policies, procedures and systems.
• Knowledge of operations, engineering and industry norms and the Corporation's competition.
• Ability to develop and leverage relationships, since diverse functions report to him/her and where smooth interworking is critical.
• Advanced ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, advanced negotiations skills, advanced planning skills & analytical skills.
