This SETA was established in terms of the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998 and encompasses the metal and engineering, auto manufacturing, motor retail, tyre manufacturing, plastics industries and automotive components sub-sectors

We have an excellent opportunity for the following professional to join the ICT Division: 
Temp Information Systems Analyst Developer X2 B5 
Salary 22 783.33 pm 
FIXED-TERM CONTRACT: 6 MONTHS 
Head Office 
 
Purpose – The purpose of this position is to provide day-to-day operations of the MIS Unit, with the first-line support for the Discretionary Grants submission queries of both internal and external stakeholders 
 
Duties: The duties include but are not limited to the following: 
1. Preparation of data for SETMIS and QMR reporting 
2. Supporting the temporary learner information system by providing technical support. 
3. preparation work for submitting learner records on SAQA NLRD 
4. Responding to day-to-day queries of the MIS support unit 
5. Provide general technical system support 
6. Helpdesk support 
7. Basic Data Integration 
 
Qualities, experience, knowledge and skills required: 
•                • NQF Level 6 qualification in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science 
• At least 1 year experience in ICT environment 
• Knowledge of SETA environment 
• Ability to establish priorities and work independently 
• Knowledge of NLRD 
• Knowledge of MySql and SQL server 
• Ability to place the client at the forefront of all interactions and understand their requirements

ICT Systems Specialist C2 
SALARY LEVEL (MIN. TO MID): 363 700- R399 700 
12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Purpose: The primary purpose of the ICT Systems Specialist is to support the deployment, and management of the merSETA cloud server dedicated to innovation software (unique coding), and its operational support in a testing and production environment. 
 
Duties:
1. Ensuring an optimal environment for the deployment, management and maintenance of unique coding for teaching and learning innovation projects. 
2. Managing third-party solutions affiliated with Canvas and implement/support their LTI integrations. 
3. Providing second tier support for system users. 
4. Set-up and monitoring of an internal ticketing system for LMS-related issues to ensure that issues are addressed appropriately. 
5. Performing regular backup operations appropriate for data protection, disaster recovery and failover procedures. 
6. Provision of documentation and technical specifications to system users for planning and implementing new and/or upgraded software. 
7. Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance. 
 
Qualities, experience, knowledge and skills required: 
• NQF Level 7 in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science. 
• At least 3 years working experience in an ICT environment with knowledge and experience in deployment, management, administration and troubleshooting in a Linux operating environment for Cloud-based: Virtual Box, Ubuntu 20.04, Docker & Docker compose, NGINX and PostgreSQL. 
• Additional experience in the following will be an advantage: Scripting and automation tools; deployment of open-source Canvas educational software; of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols. 
• Excellent communication in Project-based teamwork. 
• Analysis and problem solving.

• Written and oral communication.
