CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO SERVE AS ADDITIONAL COLLEGE COUNCIL MEMBERS AT MALUTI TVET COLLEGE
Maluti Technical and Vocational Education and Training College is a public college, operating in terms of the Continuing Education and Training (CET) Act, Act 16 of 2006 (as amended from time to time), under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The college consists of nine (09) delivery sites as well as a Central Office (located in Phuthaditjhaba) and Corporate Office (located in Bethlehem).
In accordance with Sections 10(6) and 11(4) of the Continuing Education and Training Act, No. 16 of 2006, Maluti TVET College hereby invites suitably qualified and reputable individuals to serve as External Members of the College Council.
The College seeks to fill the following vacancies:
COUNCIL MEMBER AND MEMBER OF THE AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE
This vacancy arises due to the resignation of a Council Member who also served on the Audit and Risk Committee. In line with Section 10(6)(a) and (e) of the CET Act, Council must include individuals with expertise in financial management, auditing, risk governance and corporate governance practices.
Minimum Requirements:
• A relevant qualification in Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management, Finance, or Corporate Governance (NQF Level 7 or higher).
• At least 5 years’ experience in audit, risk, or governance structures.
• Understanding of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations and King IV Report on Corporate Governance. • Must be independent and free from any conflict of interest withthe College.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as a full member of the College Council.
• Serve on the Audit and Risk Committee, providing oversight on internal control, compliance, risk management, and financial reporting.
EXTERNAL COUNCIL MEMBER – DONOR REPRESENTATIVE
In terms of Section 10(4)(d) of the CET Act, the College seeks to appoint a member who will represent donor organisations, development agencies, or social partners contributing to education and skills development.
Functions:
• Contribute to and support the College strategic plan
• Promote the culture of collaboration, creativity and community engagement in the College
• Advise the Principal on fund raising opportunities, prospective donors and growing the number of donors
• Provide guidance on fundraising efforts to raise funds through individual, corporate giving, sponsorships and contributions
Knowledge Skills and abilities
• Strong social and people skills, and knowledge of the community
• Ability to generate enthusiasm in fundraising and other activities
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team that includes College staff and Council members • Must have a positive attitude, utmost integrity, a strong sense of discretion, and mature personality conducive to dealing appropriately and effectively with all levels of donors, staff and Council
• Ability to maintain donor confidentiality as appropriate • Ability to work under pressure for long hours
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in fundraising, marketing, or related field.
• Computer Literacy
• Drivers Licence
• Three years of successful experience in development and fundraising for a recognized non-profit institution (may be substituted with experience in non-profit marketing and public relations)
• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
General Conditions for Both Positions
• The term of office is four years, and remuneration shall be in accordance with the relevant Treasury Directives and the DHET Circulars.
• Applicants must not be disqualified in terms of Section 11(4) of the CET Act (e.g. un-rehabilitated insolvent, convicted of dishonesty, or previously removed from public office).
• Applicants must reside within fifty (300) kilometres of the College delivery sites to reduce travel and accommodation costs associated with Council and committee meetings.
