DIRECTORATE: COMMUNITY SERVICES
CHIEF ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST: ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Division: Environmental Management
Salary: R452 164.32 (Post Level 4)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate • Valid Driver’s license • National Diploma/ Degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Management • 5 years’ experience in Environmental related field, and 2 years in government field • Required to have registered with SACNASP or EAPASA or Equivalent • Excellent knowledge of Environmental Legislation • Excellent report writing skills • Innovative thinking, negotiating and networking skills • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills • Willingness to travel extensively
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Ensure effective and efficient supervision at the environmental unit. • Plan activities of the unit, prioritize work and delegate tasks to subordinates according to their ability.
• Ensure effective execution of environmental health and environmental management activities. • Liaise with National and provincial governments in connection with national goals and objectives. • Liaise with National, Provincial and local structures to promote/enhance community participation and empowerment. • Ensure effective to and from sharing of information and consultation of environmental management activities. • Handle and finalize correspondence referred to the unit and controlling all the unit’s personnel documents. • Prepare and submit progress reports, quarterly and annual report, and requested documents related to the unit. • Contribute to the compilation of the budget for the unit and to monitor how the allocated budget is expended in the unit, and report any deviation to the divisional manager. • Ensure and effective and efficient administration. • Attend meetings and serve in Environmental management forums and tasks teams on behalf of the unit, Department or municipality as mandated by the Divisional Manager. • Ensure that all the operational activities within the municipality are carried out in an environmentally sound and integrated manner.

PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR X3
Division: Project Management Unit
Salary: R452 164.32 (Post Level 4)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate • Valid Driver’s license • National Diploma in Civil Engineering • Project Management Certificate • 3-5 years’ experience in construction and civil engineering field
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Coordinate, support and evaluate projects in alignment with IDPs, regional and provincial growth plan. • Manage the labour intensive projects in line with the EPWP framework. • Arrange regular site project’s progress meetings. • Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with the business plan. • Manage cash flow and committed project expenditure. • Prepare and implement a MIG capacity building business plan • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for provincial and National Government Departments. • Monitor and analyze KPI’s for each project and manage certificate of fulfilment of conditions. • Monitor the adherence of Occupational Health and Safety Plans. • Assist the service providers in collecting information for free basic services from the municipality and other departments • Coordinate the handover of completed PMU projects.
