Lephalale is one of the fastest growing towns in Limpopo due to the presence of natural coal reserves,  huge industrial expansion projects initiated by mainly coal mining processing and electricity generation.
 
Dynamic persons who wish to take a leading role in the development and exposure of Lephalale Municipality are hereby invited to apply for the following challenging positions:
 
 
Audit Committee Chairperson
Office of the Municipal Manager
 
The Audit Committee is an independent governance structure whose function is to provide oversight on the systems of internal control, risk management and  governance. In terms of section 166(1) in conjunction with section 166 (6) of the MFMA, 56 of 2003, Lephalale Municipality invites suitable applicants to serve  in the above-mentioned committee. Remuneration will be paid per sitting in accordance with tariffs approved by Council.
 
Requirements: • BCom Accounting, BTech Auditing and/or LLB or equivalent, plus at least 3 years' relevant experience • RSA citizenship • Must not be a  political office bearer in any sphere of government • The ability to maintain independence, objectivity and commitment to the community • Skilled in financial  management, auditing and/or organisational management • Registration with a relevant professional body.
 
  
Key performance areas include:  • Reviewing annual financial statements and considering whether they are fairly presented, complete and reflect appropriate  accounting principles • Considering the effectiveness of the organisation's system of internal control, including Information Technology security and control  • Reviewing the effectiveness of the IA Unit, including compliance with the IA's International Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, and  reviewing the effectiveness of the system for monitoring compliance with laws and regulations and the results of Management's investigations and follow-ups  (including disciplinary action) of any instances of non-compliance • Regularly reporting to the Accounting Officer about Committee activities, issues and related recommendations.

Risk Management Committee Chairperson
Office of the Municipal Manager
 
In terms of section 24(3) of the National Treasury Public Sector Management Framework of 1 April 2010, Lephalale Municipality invites suitable applicants to  serve in the above-mentioned committee. Remuneration will be paid per sitting in accordance with tariffs approved by Council.
 
Requirements: • BCom Accounting, BTech Auditing and/or BTech Risk Management or equivalent, plus at least 3 years' relevant experience • RSA citizenship  • Must not be a political office bearer in any sphere of government • The ability to maintain independence, objectivity and commitment to the community  • Skilled in risk management, auditing and/or organisational management • Registration with a relevant professional body.
 
Key performance areas include:  • Evaluating the extent and effectiveness of the integration of risk management within the institution • Assessing  implementation of the risk management policy and strategy • Evaluating the effectiveness of mitigating strategies implemented to address the material risks  of the institution • Reviewing the material findings and recommendations by assurance providers on the system of risk management and monitoring the  implementation of such recommendations • Interacting with the Audit Committee to share information relating to material risks of the institution • Providing  timely and useful reports to the Accounting Officer/Authority on the state of risk management, together with accompanying recommendations to address any  deficiencies identified by the Committee.



NB: Employees of national, provincial and local government or agencies and entities of government serving on committees and commissions of inquiry or audit  committees are not entitled to additional remuneration.
