DUTIES : Provision of quality cost effective and efficient 24 hour Ophthalmology service in keeping with Batho Pele Principles. Assist with training and guidance of medical Officers, Registrars, consultants, optometrists and other staff categories, including the running of an academic / in service programme for the doctors and optometrists in the Department. Maintain accurate and appropriate health records in accordance with legal and ethical principles and ensure that junior staff complies with the above. Assist the Senior Manager, Medical Service at EDH in ensuring that the Operational Plan of the hospital is implemented. Will be under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Medical Services at EDH for administrative matters. Co-ordinate and attend to medico-legal issues pertaining Ophthalmology Department. Manage performance of doctors and optometrists in the Department of Ophthalmology. Participate in processes of recruitment of doctors and optometrists in the Department of Ophthalmology. Oversee clinical audits. Oversee an Ophthalmology and optometry outreach programme for the clinics and district hospitals referring to Edendale Hospital.
