PURPOSE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean analyzer tubing, auto sampler bottles and inlet tubing weekly. Record daily readings. Check leaks and air bubbles in the tubing and replace if necessary. Replace DO meter membranes. PURPOSE

PURPOSE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, propose and implement pro-active measures and response to public needs. Consult stakeholders in respect of functional areas of region. Co-ordinate and advice the Regional Manager on all matters relating to water and sanitation services. Attend Regional service delivery meetings and ensure that decisions taken are being implemented and resolved. Ensure sound labour relations practices and management of discipline. Manage personnel in accordance with Johannesburg Water policies and legislation. Ensure the implantation of performance management as per the policy. SLUDGE COORDINATOR

PURPOSE
To ensure effective and efficient disposal of sludge from the water treatment works according to prescribed national guidelines and budgetary limits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
On-site inspection of sludge removal by transport contractors both at the works and the delivery sites according to set standards governed by legislation such as national guidelines and works permits. Weekly reporting on availability of trucks and distances to farms and quantities delivered. Recording of receipt of various documents (sludge papers, delivery notes, delivery schedules, invoices) from Johannesburg Water staff and the contractor staff. Liaise with Environmental Health/ Management officials and other stakeholders (neighbours, complainants) regarding concerns, queries, complaints and challenges regarding sludge disposal. Hold weekly feedback meetings with Process Manager. Report on any spills on public roads to management and organize for its removal according to the SOP. Ensure that the section strives to spend within the allocated budget and contract period (which is currently forty million rand over a 2 year period) bearing in mind that weather conditions, operational faults, traffic congestion, distances to the customers and several other factors outside of the Sludge Coordinators control may and do hugely affect and vary the monthly expenditure. Responsible to train the following incumbents in the proper handling and procedures related to the sludge: Contract company staff (truck supervisor/ truck drivers and admin staff) Johannesburg Water staff (Front end loader drivers, operations staff, admin staff), security personnel and admin staff.

Develop appropriate procedures to provide sustainable control mechanism for security contract management. Monitor the consistent implementation of policies. Develop and implement control systems and processes necessary for the security sections’ success. Control expenditure by ensuring spending is appropriate and necessary for achievement of objectives. Develop and implement compliance management systems. Manage all other resources of the section in a responsible and cost-effective manner. Conduct monthly meetings with private security company management to address/resolve contractual deficiencies and/or security requirements identified by the companies. Monitor discipline of private security guards in terms of fines issued. Recommend appointments/terminations of private security companies to the Manager: Corporate Services. Forward private security company increases in fee to the relevant committee via the Manager: Corporate Services. Participate fully in the tender process with regard to private security provision, e.g. site inspections to prospective service providers. Ensure overall compliance to various legal acts, not the Firearm and Ammunition Act and the Access Control Act, for the entire security division. Ensure via ad-hoc checks that both existing permanent staff and contract security staff adhere to the requirements of the Security Officer’s Board. Identify potential risk areas for the Company based on observation, site visits, investigations and statistical analysis. Conduct formal risk assessments and compile reports. Advise senior management/ Auditor with regards to security risks/ requirements
