MANAGER: ELECTRO-MECHANICAL – REF: MEM- JW354/2020
REMUNERATION: R254 316 BASIC SALARY PER ANNUM
 
PURPOSE
Manage the operations on repairs and maintenance to mechanical and electrical equipment and reticulation located at Johannesburg Water’s water and sewer pumpstations, reservoirs and towers, in accordance to General Machinery Regulations section 2.1 and 2.7 (OHSA) and SANS codes of practice. Management of the centralised Welding Workshop and the central Minor Plant Workshop.
 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the participative development of strategy for the Electro-Mechanical department in conjunction with the Networks Manager, for technically and environmentally sound water and sanitation operations. Participate in the development of overall strategy for the Networks division in the context of the policy framework set by Johannesburg Water. Direct the implementation and monitoring of strategies with respect to the functional areas of the Electro-Mechanical department. Assist Networks Manager to define in consultation with the Capital Investment department (CAPEX), the required infrastructure development and rehabilitation programs of Johannesburg Water’s facilities in accordance to CAPEX programs. Manage and ensure that all electrical and mechanical equipment located at reservoirs, towers and pumpstations are maintained in a good state and standby equipment is functional at all times to ensure the provision of continuous water supply and sanitation services in compliance with statutory requirements and other agreements.
 Develop, implement and monitor a general program for Sewer Sump cleaning so that all sewer sumps are cleaned as per schedule. Research and implement new technology to optimise plant and equipment efficiency according to Best Practices and OHSA. Investigate problematic plant and equipment and implement measure to reduce high running costs or problem areas. Ensure the general facilities maintenance to building and grounds in order to improve and maintain the aesthetics of the sites. Manage all Networks Minor Plant machinery according to the OHSA and Road Traffic Act. Ensure that the minor plant equipment is kept in a good state of operations in order to achieve availability to end users. Manage and ensure the execution of medium to large scale pipeline projects for the Networks regions. Ensure that all new employees are informed of and trained to the requirements of OHSA.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Grade 12 (NQF 4), and
Basic Bookkeeping Diploma / Certificate (NQF 5 / 6).
• 3 years’ creditors reconciliations experience in a financial administration environment.
