ADMINISTRATOR: LABORATORY INFORMATION SYSTEM

– REMUNERATION R34 274 – R41 294 – R48 312 (Basic Salary per month)
PURPOSE
To develop, maintain and continuously improve the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and to give support to internal and external clients by issuing reports of analysis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan for the laboratory server and new LIMS upgrades. Configure and document LIMS according to the operational needs of the laboratories. Create and document procedures using the LIMS specific programming language to allow automated process. Create usernames for new employees. Train end-users in using LIMS. Develop, modify and document reports using the crystal report writing tools and link those to LIMS. Co-ordinate and implement change control policies. Ensure management of sampling programmes. Communicate with clients to ascertain their needs. Ensure implementation of customer satisfaction survey. Record system failures.
Manage data system sections performance. Advise internal and external customers of delayed reports. Plan and communicate shut downs to laboratory staff. Keep abreast of IT developments and LIMS application. Manage the human resource processes for the Data System Section. Ensure compliance with all Johannesburg Water policies and relevant legislation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
- BSc Chemistry/Microbiology (NQF7) OR National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/ Microbiology
- (NQF 6) OR National Diploma in Information System /Technology (NQF 6)
- 5 years’ experience in a laboratory environment of which 3 years in using Labware LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) as an Administrator
- Knowledge of ISO 17025:2017
- Driver’s license
