Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor degree with major in natural sciences/conservation management/environmental science
At least 5 years’ experience in the field of conservation/ plant science
At least 3 year supervision experience
Key Performance Areas:
Supervise, maintain, facilitate and promote the safety, rehabilitation and enhancement of degraded habitats and ecosystems
Facilitate and coordinate the establishment and sustainable management of network of green public open spaces and conservation areas
Survey and record information on plants, animals, environmental conditions and biodiversity
Create, identify and maintain sites/habitats for bio-control
Develop maintenance and operational plans for contractors / cooperatives and internal team
Develop and implement alien invasive vegetation management programmes in compliance with NEMBA (Act of 10 of 2014: AIS)
Ensure alien invasive species capturing on GIS System through ground truthing, mapping and data collection
Research, investigate and provide recommendations of specialised knowledge for re-declaration of particular sites (e.g. Protected Areas or Areas with high Biodiversity Value)
Develop, establish and maintain sustainable stakeholder relations, participation and partnerships in terms of environmental conservation initiatives
Involve neighbouring communities in conservation decision making
Coordinate conservation efforts offered by communities with relevant stakeholders or authority
Supervise the performance, grievance and disciplinary issues of staff, escalating to managers where necessary
Prepare for and participates in, regular performance reviews (quarterly or as determined by the organisation)
Strive to improve cooperation and interaction between individuals in order to improve overall performance of the team
Discuss and implement personal development plan (aligned to career path)
Attend agreed courses, professional development to achieve optimal job performance and career goals
Develop / reviews SOPs and SWP for the Integrated Catchment Department
Implements and monitors JCPZ safety, health, environmental and security policies and procedures
Implement identified risk mitigation measures within training sessions.
Trains staff on the operational procedures (SHEQ & EMS)
Ensures compliance of Department through policy and procedure adherence
