The Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is an entity of the City of Johannesburg that stimulates and operates Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein), Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre.

Salary: R13 371.55 pm (plus applicable benefits)
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Enforce health and safety regulation ● Periodically inspect hanging gear and make sure that it is safe to use and in good repair ● Ensure that sound equipment is in good working order and meets safety requirements ● Replace faulty equipment and recommend to the senior management to acquire new technology when necessary ● Use computers and computer systems (including software and hardware) to program, write software, setup functions, enter data, or process information ● Diagnose and resolve media system problems ● Operate control consoles for sound, lighting and video ● Mix and regulate sound inputs and feeds or coordinate audio feeds ● Mix sound inputs ● Compress, digitalize, duplicate and store audio and video data ● Obtain, setup and load video tapes for scheduled productions ● Analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best results and solve problems ● Positively represent the employer when dealing with clients
● Give professional advice and expertise to the clients ● Determine client’s production requirements and give the necessary support ● Operate any stage equipment within the theatre when needed ● Oversee, at all times and in the Company’s best interests, globally recognized best practices of the theatre industry on the stages of Joburg Theatre ● Report all mechanical faults to the line Manager and maintenance department.
Education and experience required:
Higher Certificate in Theatre Technology (NQF Level 5) ● A minimum of 3 years practical work experience in theatre sound ● Must have experience as an Audio Visual Technician ●Verbal communications in the English language● Willingness to work overtime time ● Must have passion for theatre.
