The Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is an entity of the City of Johannesburg that operates Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein), Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre. 
 
Department : Governance

Designation: General Manager: Strategic Relations and Projects (Ref No: GMSRP/11/22) 
Salary Range: R54,544.98 (basic salary excluding benefits)
 
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited: Develop and lead the implementation of the fundraising / sponsorship strategy for projects including developing a risk mitigation plan ● Formulate, in consultation with Management and the Board, short term, medium term and long term objectives and goals, in line with the vision and mission of JCT ● Help to identify, scope and plan opportunities for new or improved services ● Develop / improve organizational resilience in response to the evolving coronavirus pandemic ● Draft strategic documents, presentations and funding/sponsorship applications ● Deliver presentations or pitches e.g. at speaking or network events, meetings, etc. ● Implement strategies for the delivery of results on a day to day, quarter to quarter basis ensuring that required tools, resources, business process, policies are developed, communicated and implemented. ● Project Management for additional Special Projects / festivals / events managed by the company ● Provide management support in a team that sources, conceptualizes, plans, coordinates and efficiently executes internal and external events in line with the company vision ● Reporting – submit weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual integrated reports for EXCO, the Board and Shareholder ● Ensure delivery of services and facilitate operational support by managing contractual obligations ● Build and maintain strong working relationships with all project stakeholders ● Ensure project communications are targeted and at the level and frequency required ● Provide an effective and comprehensive operational support service to the CEO and COO
 
Appointment Requirements: Relevant Bachelor’s Degree / NQF Level 7 ● 7 years’ experience with 5 years is in management / strategic level in a similar environment ● Demonstrable experience of scoping, planning and delivering projects (festivals, events, etc.) ● Substantial experience of relationship building and collaborative partnership ● Demonstrate ability to write persuasive applications, proposals and presentations that have successful results ● Experience in supervising multiple, diverse service functions simultaneously with a strong supervisory and team leadership skills ● Experience in compiling and managing budgets ● Good verbal and written communication skills ● Computer literacy.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited
Key responsibilities: • Provide strategic leadership of marketing, communications, sales, audience development and strategic partnerships to achieve agreed annual targets for principal income streams • Develop and lead the implementation of the company’s marketing and communications strategy including developing a risk mitigation plan • Develop and implement JCT’s PR and media strategy, building its reputation and ensuring effective media coverage • Explore and activate opportunities around media sponsorship and media partnerships • Lead on creative and compelling marketing campaigns, ensuring the effectiveness, style and content of collateral and communications reflect the theatres’ brand • Develop and maintain a positive theatre brand reputation both in-house and externally • Take responsibility for driving effective marketing contras, developing and delivering an approach to closed user groups and identify and work with third parties who can help JCT access increased group sales • Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build customer loyalty programs, brand awareness, and customer satisfaction • Overseeing all internal and external communications, ensuring its message is consistent and engaging • Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of all campaigns • Develop productive and strategic partnerships with existing and future partners.
 
Appointment Requirements: Education and experience required: • Degree / NQF Level 7 in Marketing / Communications Management or relevant qualification in arts management • 7 years of practical work experience in marketing and communications in a similar environment with 5 years in management / strategic level • Extensive knowledge of contemporary theatre trends globally • Substantial and provable experience of managing marketing activities in the arts or comparable sector attracting diverse audiences using a varied and engaging marketing mix • Digital marketing skills, with experience and knowledge of advances in technology and digital media • Demonstrated ability to write persuasive applications, proposals and presentations that have successful results • Ability to develop effective and persuasive communications, with strong creative flair and attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment • Experience in supervising multiple, diverse service functions simultaneously with a strong supervisory and team leadership skills

The Company is providing opportunities to gain work experience in the theatre environment. Joburg City Theatres is therefore inviting unemployed graduates, throughout South Africa, to apply for our internship programme.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY: 
All applicants must be: between the ages of 18 -35 years and be a South Africa citizen. Students who need Experiential Training. Studied at a recognized institution of higher learning in the Republic of South Africa. 
Successful candidates will be appointed on a 12 months internship contract. An all-inclusive monthly stipend of R5 475.00 will be paid.

Department: Hospitality and Catering 
Branch: Joburg Theatre 
Designation: Cash and Stock Controller Ref: CSC/10/22 
Salary: R 16 427.66 per month (basic salary excluding benefits)
 
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Ensure the current market prices and all other prices submitted by the Joburg City theatres supplier data base. ● Obtain samples from suppliers for any new product and present to the Senior Management before implementing in any outlets. ● Investigate any supplier problems, and take the appropriate action and follow ups to ensure no similar problems are experienced in the future. ● Create a good working relationship with all suppliers. ● Maintain up to date records of all supplier details, products list and price lists. ●Ability to use only approved suppliers on the JCT H&C data base at any given time. ● Ensure that all orders are placed with all suppliers on a Monday & Thursday weekly and ensure no orders are placed without the authorisation from Senior Management. ● Obtain quotes from all suppliers when placing an order and ensure that they are emailed directly to the warehouse after the order has been placed. ● Ensure that an official order number is issued for all purchases & goods received. ● Ensure that goods received are of a high quality and quantity & ordered and in accordance with the agreed price as stipulated on the TENDERS & RFQ. ● Complete the necessary documentation for short deliveries, damaged stocks etc., and to ensure that all credit notes are passed should stock be returned or not delivered by supplier. ● Ensure that all stock items are packed using the FIFO method to ensure that the first stock items are used at any given time. ● Ensure that all order sheets are updated weekly with most updated prices, removing any delisted products, and including any new products approved by Senior Management. ● Ensure that no stock items leave the warehouse without a requisition from that department, the pastel transfer and without the correct signatures. ● Check the receipt of any order against the invoice and inspect for any damage or shortages. ● Sign off the invoice once the purchase order is checked. ●Update daily Pastel with full price checks and product listing. ● File copies of all invoices & requisition forms before handing the original invoices and requisition forms to the finance department for capturing. The copied invoices must be filed and kept in the warehouse of any stock quires that might arise. ● Balance off to a zero upon completion of all daily stock counts in the warehouse. ● File all order sheets that have been placed with suppliers. ● Conduct a full count on all inventory items Daily before placing the order. ● Conduct stock counts accurately on the 15th day & month end and closing stock figures supplied to the Finance Department. ● Ensure that all issues are made against requisitions and that no items leave the warehouse without the appropriate documentation or signatures. ● Ensure that Pastel is updated daily, recording all issues into the warehouse & all transfers out of the warehouse with a full stock count Daily to ascertain 
the stock variance with reasons.
Appointment Requirements:
 Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics or
 Certificate / Diploma in Warehouse Purchasing / Stock Control
 1 year’ experience in purchasing / procurement systems. Point of sale systems that manage the revenue /purchases / stocks transfers in hospitality.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Ensure event planning & design while managing all project delivery elements within time limits. ● Liaise with clients to identify their needs and to ensure customer satisfaction. ● Provide feedback and periodic reports to Hospitality manager. ● Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality. ● Organize facilities and manage all event’s details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, and promotional material. ● Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations. ● Specify staff requirements and coordinate their activities. ● Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day. ● Ensure and check equipment against the function checklist to ensure that no items have been misappropriated or mislaid. ● Ensure and submit all cost functions breakdown to the financial controller. ● Ensure that all quotes & final tax invoices are sent to client and financial controller timeously so avoid and bill discrepancies. ● Ensure that the purchasing and requisition process is followed at all times. ● Maintain proper inventory of all assets and hired operating equipment.
 
Appointment Requirements:

 Certificate in Events Management OR equivalent
 6 months’ experience in events coordination
