CASH CONTROLLER
 
The Joburg City Theatres (JCT), an entity of the City of Johannesburg that stimulates and operates Joburg Theatre, Roodepoort Theatre and Soweto Theatre to provide the integrated management of theatre is seeking a skilled and experienced Cash Controller to join the JCT finance team.

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12.
• Computer literacy in Pastel Evolution; Excel; Word and Outlook.
• Good understanding of financial management in a business environment.
• Strong reconciliation skills.
• Two years’ experience in the finance department (Minimum years of experience 12 months)
• Diploma in Finance, Accounting. Business, Economic or related field will be an added advantage.
 
Primary Function
This position is responsible for the effective and efficient functioning of the finance department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. The successful candidate is expected to support the department by providing financial information, maintaining and reconciling the GL and preparing various analyses.
 
Key responsibilities:
• Receipts all money received
• Bank twice a week (Wednesdays and Fridays) on the Cash Vault.
• Filing of all transactions.
• Daily cash-up of box office ticket sales
• Sign and check all documentation to daily sales per user report.
• The above documentation should be approved by the Finance Manager and then fax relevant documentation to Web tickets.
• Controls a petty cash float of R 40,000.00 and during in-house productions an additional petty cash for “in-house production” expenses.
• Develop and implement cash management plan to ensure sufficient funds available all times.
• The above also applies to huge tenant productions
• Ensure correct allocation of account codes
• Ensure signatures from HODs are obtained for all transactions.
• All show expenses to be copied and given to Bookkeeper on receipt.
• Also responsible for show Per diems
• Processing Tax Invoices in Pastel Daily and as required
• Email or print and distribute invoices to clients daily.
• Recover telephone bills (SABT, HLM etc.)
• Follow up on outstanding Debtors
• Maintain a file for all follow up correspondence for review and audit purposes.
• Assist with providing information requested by internal and external auditors
• Assist with review of Accounts Receivable policy.
• Prepare monthly cashbooks for all JCT bank accounts
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all JCT bank accounts.
• Properly file monthly bank reconciliation for review and audit purposes.
• Ensure that all payment vouchers are filed monthly.
Overtime
• Collate overtime sheets from HODs
• Prepare overtime schedule and submit to HODs for review and sign-off
• Submit signed overtime schedules to payroll.

Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is looking for a creative and organised Marketing and Communication Coordinator to support day-to-day marketing efforts at one of its vibrant theatre venues. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in promoting the performing arts in Johannesburg.
As Marketing and Communication Coordinator, you will help bring productions to life through engaging campaigns, social media content, public relations support, and branding activities.
Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will coordinate a range of marketing and communication functions – from digital engagement to print collateral, press nights to community activations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves storytelling, has an eye for detail and understands how to connect with diverse audiences.

Minimum Requirements
• A diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, Media, or similar.
• 3 years’ relevant experience in marketing, PR, or events environment.
• Strong writing, coordination, and organisational skills.
• Social media fluency and experience with tools like Meta Business Suite or Canva.
• Ability to manage timelines and communicate well with internal and external stakeholders.
 
Primary Function
Responsible for supporting the planning, execution and monitoring of marketing and communication activities at theatre level in line with JCT’s Marketing and Communication Strategy. This includes coordinating day-to-day campaign implementation, content updates, social media engagement, media relations support and branding compliance across digital and traditional platforms.
The role is hands-on and execution-focused, requiring excellent coordination skills, creative input and close collaboration with theatre programming and customer services teams to help grow audiences and promote productions and events.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate marketing campaigns, production promotion, and digital content.
• Manage and update social media pages and assist with web listings and newsletters.
• Assist with media outreach, press releases, and promotional events.
• Ensure brand consistency across signage, print material, and theatre spaces.
• Track campaign performance and assist with reporting and content archiving.

• Able to multitask and stay organised under pressure.
• Comfortable working in the evenings or weekends for productions and events.

Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is seeking a dynamic and passionate Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the marketing and communications efforts for Soweto Theatre: one of the city’s most vibrant and culturally significant performance spaces. This role is central to driving Soweto Theatre’s visibility, audience growth and brand development in line with JCT’s Marketing and

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the arts or entertainment sector.
• Proven experience with integrated campaign development and digital marketing tools.
• Excellent writing, content creation and public engagement skills.
• Strong stakeholder and community engagement experience, especially in culturally diverse environments.
• A post-graduate qualification in brand or communication strategy – desirable.
• Knowledge of Soweto’s cultural landscape and creative industries.
• Fluency in multiple South African languages is an advantage.
