INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
Joburg City Theatres is contributing towards skills development by providing recent graduates an opportunity to intern at Joburg City Theatres. The Company is providing opportunities to gain work experience in the theatre environment. Joburg City Theatres is therefore inviting unemployed graduates, throughout South Africa, to apply for our internship programme.
The following positions are available:

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY:
All applicants must be: between the ages of 18 -35 years and be a South Africa citizen. Students who need Experiential Training. Studied at a recognized institution of higher learning in the Republic of South Africa.
Successful candidates will be appointed on a 12 months internship contract. An all-inclusive monthly stipend of R5 475.00 will be paid.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited: Assist Director In reviewing audition material. ● Research and memorize scripts and background information on the production ● Assist Director in overseeing technical run-throughs prior to performance rehearsals ● Maintain and manage rehearsals and calendar ● Chair production meetings ● Contact understudies in the event that a lead actor is unavailable ● Ensures that production schedule is adhered to ● Resolve technical issues during rehearsals ● Work with the costume department to ensure that all costumes and props are ready for photo shoots, rehearsals and performances ● Provide stage directions and cues to actors during rehearsals and performances ● Maintain log of daily rehearsal activity, script changes and official performances ● Write and distribute daily rehearsal, production meeting, and performance repots timeously ● Record all scenery cues, lighting cues, sound cues, pyrotechnical cues, AV cues, fly cues etc. and stand-by’s in a script/production book in advance of the first technical rehearsal ● Call all cues during the run of the show.● Report all mechanical faults to the Production or Technical Manager and building department and ensure that faults are rectified in time by also following up ● Prepare props, furniture and costume lists in consultation with the director and designers and ensures substitutes are available for rehearsals ● Oversees the organization and design of the stage prior to performances ● Assist in setting up of props and other items for a production ● Supervise and train employees ● Inspect all equipment after use before storage ● Maintain AV equipment ● Operate AV ● Write and distribute performance reports ● Operate control consoles for sound, lighting and video ● Draw rehearsal schedules ● Archive shows for future use ● Compress, digitalize, duplicate and store audio and video data. ● Enforce health and safety regulation ● Ensure all stunts and technical details are executed safely● Ensure Technicians follow safe procedure when rigging by securing gear with additional safety cables ● Ensure the stage, side stages and rehearsal areas are free of hazards ● Give professional advice and expertise to the clients ● Determine client’s production requirements and give the necessary support.
Appointment Requirements: Grade 12 plus National Diploma (NQF 6) in Performing / Production Arts / entertainment technology or related qualification at NQF level 6 ● Minimum of 3-4 years of practical work experience in theatre stage management. Experience as AV Technician and in rigging ● Knowledge of related policies and legislation governing safety and health ● Good verbal and written communication in English ● Computer literacy.

Designation: Marketing Assistant

Salary: R24 119.71 per month (basic salary excluding benefits)
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Implement all aspects of the theatre’s day-to-day marketing activities which includes the effective distribution of marketing material, making sure that newspapers are brought daily and magazines are received advertising different theatre productions/shows. ● Cut out all newspapers and magazine articles for immediate sharing and filling purposes. ● Assist in ensuring that all promotional and branding material conforms to brand standards and guidelines. ● Preparation of marketing schedules and spreadsheets and complying with deadlines for billboards, lift doors, magazines, foyer banners, newspapers and outside theatre branding boards. ● Check that all leaflets/posters are well placed with correct dates and remove for recycling when show is over. ● Responsible for assisting in the management of Public Relations/Publicity/Social Media/other service providers. ● Assist in the management of stakeholder relations. ● Assist in the development and distribution of marketing department. ● Responsible for administration in the marketing department. ● Assisting in the development and distribution of marketing and promotional material. ● Date entry and analysis and keeping database up to date. ● Helping conduct and collate findings from market research. ● Writing targeted content for website/social media. ● Contributing to internal reports/ reporting on success by monitoring key metrics. ● Creating content for social media channels. ● Responding to marketing queries via phone, email or social media. ● Keeping abreast of industry trends and compelling marketing campaigns. ● Liaising and strengthening relationships with suppliers and clients.
Appointment Requirements:
Grade 12 and Diploma and/or Degree (NQF Level 6) with experience in Marketing/PR/Advertising
A minimum of two year experience in an entertaining environment
Core Competencies
Good written and verbal communications in the English language;
Willingness to work unsociable hours
Willingness to be communicated with on WhatsApp
