We are seeking to appoint motivated employees in the following positions:
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (Four-month fixed-term contract position)

Basic Salary Range: R117 912 – R159 480 per annum, plus benefits

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (Four-month fixed-term contract position)

Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Proven relevant experience in the identification of insect specimens to order level and Hymenoptera to family level
- Proven experience working with entomology collections
- Experience in sorting and curating insect samples, entering and editing data on the specify database
- Computer literacy in MS Office.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with field work tasks, under the direction of the scientist in charge
- Sorting, identification, preparation, labelling and cataloguing of terrestrial invertebrate (mainly insect and arachnid) specimens
- Assisting with the development of specimen databases
- Assisting with the maintenance programme for the entomology collections
- Assisting with risk management in collections, including ensuring collection security and that access control procedures are followed.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER
CLOSING DATE: 07 OCTOBER 2022
DEPARTMENT: FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
Basic Salary Range: R392 280 – R530 760 per annum, plus benefits
Requirements:
- Relevant 3 – year tertiary qualification in Finance or Supply Chain Management
- Proven relevant experience in procurement of which 2 years should be at management level
- Sound understanding of the PFMA legislation and Treasury Regulations with regard to Supply Chain Management and records management
- Sound knowledge of the General Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP), General Recognition of Accounting Practice (GRAP) and International Framework of Reporting Standards (IFRS) with regard to Asset Management
- Knowledge and experience in ACCPAC Asset Management system and its operations resulting in the production of an Asset Register
- Knowledge and experience in Records Management
- Advanced computer literacy in MS Office
- Valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing the Supply Chain Management function
- Ensuring that all aspects relating to procurement are addressed and comply with relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to SCM and the GRAP Accounting Standards
- Asset Management
- Review asset requisitions and allocate asset categories
- Management of records and overseeing the insurance of assets
- Review depreciation run in the asset module on a monthly basis
- Prepare a reconciliation statement between the fixed asset module and the general ledger
- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders
- Managing of staff in the SCM section
- Managing procurement of suppliers and suppliers according to the preferred supplier list and Iziko’s Supply Chain Management Policy
- Monitor the administration of bid documentation and the general conditions of a contract in accordance with the instructions of National Treasury
- Fleet administration
- Ensuring all monthly schedules and supporting documentation related to asset insurance, acquisitions, movement and disposals are delivered timeously
- Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements
- Supervise and coordinate the disposal of documentation according to the National Treasury guidelines for archiving of documentation.

PLANETARIUM PRESENTER (Sessional)
CLOSING DATE: 30 SEPTEMBER 2022
Remuneration: Fixed rate per show
Term: October 2022 to April 2023
Requirements:
- BSc/BEng/Diploma in any Astronomy/Space Science/Natural Science/ or Science and Engineering related field (a postgraduate qualification is advantageous)
- Excellent computer skills (knowledge of programming and/ audiovisual skills are advantageous)
- Good proven English communication and presentation skills (fluency in Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa would be advantageous)
- Up to date knowledge of developments in astronomy and space science
Key Responsibilities:
- To facilitate and present planetarium shows for the general public, learners and education groups on a sessional basis
- To answer astronomy or planetarium related queries from members of the public
- To provide feedback and input relating to Astronomy to the Planetarium Manager and other presenters for the purposes of keeping up to date with the latest trends in the field
- To assist the Planetarium Manager and the Director: Education as required when on duty.
Working Hours:
Sessional, as and when required to present shows as per the Planetarium public show schedule provided by the Planetarium Manager.
