​EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OPERATIONS – INDEFINITE POSITION

Basic Salary Range: R941 532 – R1 273 968 per annum, plus benefits
 
Requirements: Masters Degree or equivalent • 10 years’ relevant experience of which five years should be at senior management level • Technical professional knowledge of all areas of responsibility of the Operations departments (Customer Services, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Finance, income generation, Occupational Health and Safety, information technology) • Understanding of business, general planning and relevant legislation • Regulations, practices, legal requirements, processes and procedures and including knowledge of the national heritage sector and related legislation • Public Finance Management Act and Labour legislation • Human resources, income generation (including fundraising, marketing and promotions strategies), business and financial management principles, risk management processes and methodologies, procedures and policies • Project management planning and implementation skills • Valid drivers’ license.
 
Key Responsibilities include: Executive management of the Operations Business Unit to achieve the strategic goals of the organisation • To ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and policies, as well as to ensure that risks are managed effectively, by strategic management & business planning • General management • Strategy and policy development • Risk management (Chief Risk Officer), Human Resources Management, Customer Services, facilities management, information technology, finance, Project Management.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary range quoted above excludes employment benefits comprising a 13th cheque, a contribution towards a designated retirement fund (compulsory) and a designated medical aid (voluntary) as well as a housing subsidy. Additional employment conditions such as leave entitlement are generous.

​DIRECTOR ADVANCEMENT – INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT

Basic Salary Range: R 1 039 726.00 per annum, plus benefits
 
Requirements: Postgraduate qualification in Public Relations, Marketing, Business Development or equivalent • Proven relevant management experience preferably working within a highly structured compliance environment • Proven track record in fundraising, income generation, venue hire, stakeholder engagement, public relations, marketing & communications • Advanced computer literacy in MS Office • Valid driver’s license • Knowledge of all relevant legislation applicable to a cultural institution including the PFMA.
 
Key Responsibilities include: Develop a fundraising strategy, policy, and plan for Iziko Museums which positions the organisation to attract investments and increase donor and self-generated income to enable public engagement initiatives and other strategic objectives • Develop a branding strategy for Iziko Museums • Develop and implement strategies for electronic and other communication media • Maintain and develop relationships with potential donors and benefactors • Plan and launch public relations campaigns to increase paying visitors to Iziko Museums • Develop appropriate responses to media issues • Formulate and implement best practice funding proposals •  Ensure that the departmental budget is aligned with the achievement of the objectives of the Business Plan • Ensure financial and labour compliance in the department • Coordinate the production of internal and external communications, publications, materials, branding, wayfinding, annual performance plans, annual report and strategic plans for the institution.
 
Competencies Required: Project management, financial management including procurement, people management • Leadership, including effectively managing the performance of a small, dedicated staff complement • Strategy and policy formulation • Driving projects and tasks for results • Adaptability, integrity and risk and stress tolerance • Strong command of the English language (written and verbal) • Excellent writing and editing skills • Fundraising best practice • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders • Ability to work independently and pro-actively.

Other employment conditions such as working hours and leave entitlement are also generous.
