CURATOR SOCIAL HISTORY COLLECTIONS
Basic Salary Range: R359 604 – R486 552 per annum, plus benefits
Requirements: Masters degree relevant to South African Social History and ideally some specialist knowledge of the history of the Cape • At least five years’ experience working in a museum with proven ability to manage projects • Relevant museological knowledge with a proven record of research excellence and publication • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite • Proof required of valid driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities include: Deliver on curatorial and research functions in relation to the Social History collections • Develop the Social History collections • Community engagement in relation to both research and display
• Identify works for acquisition and conservation • Communicate specialist research findings to the public through publications, exhibitions, popular articles, website and public programmes • Negotiate, handle and manage artworks for temporary and touring artworks, to and from other institutions, nationally and abroad and act as a courier when required • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting and fundraising • Submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports • Manage the procurement processes linked to the implementation of exhibitions • Liaise with the Education department about the generation of content for the education and public programmes • Liaise with Advancement Department about the generation of content for marketing and audience development • Knowledge of exhibition and graphic design • Liaise with the National Research Foundation (NRF) and other bodies that fund research programmes • Contribute to risk management and alert the Director Research and Exhibitions of any areas of potential risk that require mitigation • Mentor interns and volunteers.
Competencies Required: Ability to plan and implement projects • Knowledge of financial management and fundraising • Ability to network • Museological knowledge.
CURATOR AFRICAN ART

Requirements: Masters degree in Art History and/or Theory or equivalent - with specialisation in the more traditional historical forms of artistic production from South and southern Africa and the Continent • At least five years’ experience working in an art museum or gallery • Proven record of research excellence and publication • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite • Proof required of valid driver’s licence.

BASIC SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salaries quoted above do not include benefits. Iziko benefits comprise generous contributions towards a designated retirement fund (compulsory), a designated medical aid (voluntary) and a housing subsidy (voluntary). Other employment conditions such as working hours and leave entitlement are also generous.
