Job Purpose:
An exceptional opportunity awaits a dynamic individual with the right qualification and experience to assume the position of a Debit Card Accountant
The responsibilities for the successful candidate will be to:
Ensure that Insurance business unit is updated of all revenue received
Assist the Financial accountant with analysing income statements prior to month end closure
Approve journal for dormant refunds
Ensure that that trial balances are checked for correctness and posted on JDE
Review JDE to Banking system reconciliation
Resolve both internal and external audit queries resulting in no findings
Assist the Financial accountant with AFS
Approve and release cash focus payments
Prepare Insurance payments advice to underwriters
Ensure JDE balances to Pastel
Cash in transit- ensure account clears on daily basis- AS400, analysis of branch entries posted on AS400 &journalise between CIT & treasury cash.
Provide input for BRD’s for the hosted banking system

Attend to all Branch queries regarding payments for debit card clients are followed up and cleared immediately
Review and approve GL reconciliation
Ensure key controls and policies and procedures are complied with.
Accurate recording of revenue, expenses, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
Preparation of monthly reconciliation.
Assisting with monthly analysis of variances on income statement
Supervise the bookkeeping team
Create a high performance culture in the team
The following minimum requirements must be met in order to be considered for this position:
Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
Three to Four years’ experience in an Accounting environment
3 years related Supervisory experience.
Computer Literacy – Proficiency in MS Office
Financial systems skills
Excellent numerical skills
Business operations key controls and procedures
Good communication (verbal and written), administrative, planning, organizing, analytical and problem solving skills.
Must have knowledge of legislation and regulation tools such as PFMA.
