The CEO is accountable to and appointed by the Board of Directors to manage the business within an acceptable risk profile and to achieve sustainable results as agreed. With the assistance of the executive management, the incumbent will be required to implement the strategic business objectives and policies set by the Board of Directors in accordance with agreed business plans. 
 
 
The responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to: 
 Formulate and direct the strategic planning process in conjunction with the Board. 
 Implement the strategic direction of the company through translation into specific strategies and operational plans. 
 Submission of the annual performance plan and Ithala SOC Limited strategy for Board consideration and approval. 
 Participate in strategic decision making at Board Level. 
 Establish and maintain strategic alliances with various stakeholders. 
 Custodianship for advancement of BBBEE within the projects facilitated. 
 Position the organisation in line with increasing its market share and exploit profitable growth opportunities. 
 Create a culture of customer centricity and high performance. 
 Execute the responsibilities of a CEO according to lawful and ethical standards as laid out in the KING IV. 
 Act as the main management interface, regarding strategic and operational issues of Ithala SOC Limited. 
 Partner with multiple departments, subsidiaries and external business partners to ensure solutions meet all business needs. 
 Monitor and manage progress, including risks, issues, constraints and products/deliverables. 
 Ensure compliance with company policies. 
 Ensure improved organizational culture and effective communication plan through the necessary culture being created to support the values, beliefs and behaviors required to attain the Ithala SOC Limited strategic and operational objectives. 
 Provide on-going advice and direction to the operational environment i.t.o procedure, policies, legislative and regulatory operations whilst maintaining the appropriate commercial and regulatory balance. 
 Ensure the implementation of a robust service level agreement process including the formalised contracting of internal and external service level agreements, regular service reviews and remedial actions for poor service delivery. 
 Oversee the process engineering /process improvement and business architecture development (including systems architecture) for all products, processes and systems that are unique to the department. 
 Create sustainability and investment transactions including developing relationships with other financial institutions, investors and intermediaries to enhance effective partnerships. 
 Develop and recommend to the Board; annual business plans, annual and 3 year operating and capital budgets that support Ithala Limited’s long term strategy.
 Report to the Board on Risk Management Process. 
 Develop an organisational Business Continuity Management programme. 
 Ensure continual awareness of business continuity trends within the environment and implement initiatives/ strategies to address compliance by enforcing continuous improvements to implementation and maintenance. 
 Implement and maintain organisation’s corporate governance framework. 
 Ensure proper execution and implementation of the annual business calendar for Board of Directors. 
 Serve and to attend parliamentary committees, i.e. SCOPA and selected Sanding Committees. 
 
 
The following minimum requirements should be met in order to be considered: 
 Relevant Post Graduate qualification in Commerce or any other related disciplines 
 Must have the experience to infuse maturity and the ability to operate at executive level and represent the organisation favourably. 
 Have minimum of seven (7) years similar experience in a leadership role within the financial services industry. 
 Sound knowledge of corporate law and corporate governance principals. 
 High level of understanding and experience in the application of Public Finance Management Act, KING IV Report on Corporate Governance. 
 Must have experience in strategy and new business development. 
 Must have knowledge of banking regulators i.e. SARB, NCR and FSB requirements. 
 Thorough understanding and implementation on BBBEE requirements. 
 Diplomacy, discretion, negotiation, analytical, problem solving, communication and presentation skills. 
 Have the ability to present legal issues to general management and be able to provide pragmatic solutions. 
 Project management and planning – the ability to facilitate multi-disciplinary projects at any given time. 
 Working knowledge of legislation and regulatory tools such as Banks Act, PFMA, NCA, FICA, FAIS Acts and other financial institutions related Acts; 
 Strategic thinking and planning ability in addition to being strategically placed both internally and externally. 
 Sound knowledge of corporate law and corporate governance principals. 
 Understanding of Public Finance Management Act, as well as related legislation.
 An understanding of Ithala SOC Limited as an organization together with an appreciation of its strategic and operational environment and stakeholder relationships.
