Description

Requirements: 

The applicant must be in possession of a bachelor’s degree in law, Economics or Business Management with five years’ experience in a research, law, and trade related area, preferably with some work in international trade.  Knowledge of the international trade law, national policy framework (Trade Policy for Industrial Development and Employment Growth 2021 and the National Development Plan) and World Trade Organisation (WTO) agreements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be required to: provide technical advice and input in multilateral and bi-lateral and regional trade negotiations in relation to ITAC’s trade instruments. Draft and review of the ITA Act and ensure alignment of legislation with government policies. Assist with the drafting of and review of the Amended Anti-Dumping, Countervailing Duty, Safeguard, Tariff Investigations and Import and Export Control Regulations and ensure alignment with government policies. Assist in the development and review policies, guidelines and procedures of ITAC’s tariff amendment, trade remedies and import and export control units.  Provide research assistance (primarily on new trade developments, regulatory changes and case law) to units preparing investigations into key product markets for the Commission. Provide strategic direction for the unit. Contribute to financial management of ITAC and management of other resources. Participate in governance structures of ITAC.
