The Information Regulator (Regulator) is a juristic person established in terms of Section 39 of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) which enjoins the Regulator to be independent and impartial and to perform its functions and exercise its powers without fear, favour or prejudice. It is accountable to the National Assembly and has jurisdiction throughout the Republic of South Africa. The Regulator is responsible for the promotion and protection of the right to privacy as it relates to the protection of personal information and right of access to information. In this regard, it exercises its powers and performs its functions in accordance with POPIA and the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 as amended (PAIA). The Regulator consists of five (5) Members namely: the Chairperson and four (4) ordinary Members appointed by the President of the Republic of South Africa for a five (5) year term. The Chairperson and two (2) ordinary Members are appointed on a full-time and the other two (2) Members on a part-time basis. Section 47 of POPIA empowers the Regulator to establish its own administration to assist it in the performance of its functions. In this regard, the Regulator must appoint the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other staff members to assist it in the performance of its functions. The Head Office of the Regulator is situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

REQUIREMENTS
 Matric certificate plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Education/ Public Administration/Law or Political Science (with specialty in Education, Training and Development) or equivalent relevant qualification at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 7 as recognised by South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). 
 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in middle management within the field of education and public awareness environment designing and delivering training programmes. 
 Experience in the development of accredited training programmes 
 Accreditation as an Assessor or Moderator in terms of the Skills Development Act, 97 of 1998 as amended.

REQUIREMENTS
 Matric certificate plus a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or computer engineering or IT Technical-related field or equivalent qualification rated at National Qualification Framework (NQF) Level 7 recognised by South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) 
 5-10 years' experience in IT operations, development, and IT Security or cyber security. 
 5-10 years of experience in information systems auditing, assessment and mitigation of risk.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED 
Extensive knowledge in IT Security operations, developing IT Security strategies, policies, processes, plans, governance frameworks and standard operating procedures. Experience in troubleshooting systems. Skill in developing databases, software installation, and providing advice and recommendations on best IT Security practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Effective communication skills, including the ability to present on IT security practices to the senior leadership of the Information Regular (Regulator) and the Regulator's stakeholders, and to get buy-in from internal stakeholders. Extensive knowledge and experience in implementation and recommendation of IT Security controls and measures, including penetration testing experience, firewalls, proxies, antivirus/malware, endpoint protection, access control, encryption, database security, network security and any related IT security technologies. Experience in managing, preventing, detecting, investigating and monitoring security vulnerabilities, threats and breaches. Experience in investigation of suspicious network and endpoint activity. Ability to identify, assess and mitigate network vulnerabilities and IT security risks; and explaining how to avoid them. Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches promptly while understanding business impact. Experience in performing risk analysis, and risk assessments, develop IT security risk registers, and security plans. Experience in the oversight and execution of a continuous monitoring and improvement program, including security control assessments. Experience in developing security incident reports for the Regulator and/or stakeholders. Experience with some of the international standards on security, such as ISO27001. Key Performance Areas 
Analysis
 Keep up to date with the latest security and technology developments. 
 Research and identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and develop action plans to counter or manage emerging cyber intelligence threats. 
 Research/evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them. 
 Use advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities. 
 Produce threat warnings, real-time situational and predictive analysis, and the synthesis of all-source information and data. 
 Identify security gaps and the services provided, making recommendations and taking remedial action. 
 
Investigations
 Investigate security alerts and provide incident response. 
 Monitor and respond to 'phishing' emails and 'pharming' activity. 
 Monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity. 
 Investigate instances of cases of security breaches under POPIA 
 Produce reports on security breaches and advise the Regulator on action to respond to reported and unreported breaches. 
 Liaise with internal stakeholders concerning cyber security issues, provide recommendations, and support the Regulator in liaising with stakeholders who experience security breaches. 
 
IT Security Management 
 Manage IT security threats, vulnerabilities and security breaches 
 Review and respond to all relevant audits, 
 Define and manage an Information Security Risk Treatment Plan. 
 Plan for disaster recovery and create contingency plans in the event of any security breaches. 
 Identify potential weaknesses and implement measures, such as firewalls and encryption. 
 Test and evaluate security products. 
 Maintain an information security risk register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security. 
 Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS
 Matric certificate plus an LLB degree or any equivalent relevant qualification at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 8 as recognised by South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). 
 Five (5) years’ experience within a legal or regulatory environment of which three (3) years must be at supervisory level in conducting of investigations.

REQUIREMENTS:
 A matric certificate and an appropriate three (3) year qualification in administration or management or secretarial (NQF Level 6) as recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). 
 Minimum of five (5) years relevant administrative or secretarial experience working with members of senior and executive management, preferably in the public sector environment. 
 Knowledge of Acts, Regulations, policies and procedures governing the public service.

 Matric certificate and a Bachelor degree in Financial Accounting or equivalent qualification in related field rated at NQF Level 7. 
 Minimum of three (3) years in a financial accounting environment at a junior management level. 
 Knowledge of Acts, Regulations, Policies and Procedures applicable in the public sector. 
 Knowledge and experience of Generally Recognized Accounting Practices (GRAP). 
 Working knowledge and experience of Basic Accounting System (BAS), PERSAL and Logistical Information System (LOGIS).
