POSITION STATUS: Permanent
 
Purpose of the job                                                                                                                 
To ensure that all ICT equipment imported into, manufactured, supplied or used in South Africa complies at all times with the applicable ICASA technical standards. Ensuring that approved equipment does not cause damage to or interfere with the operation of the telecommunications network or other equipment; and that the operating frequencies of all Radio Equipment conform to the National Radio Frequency Plan.
 
Key Outputs: The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager: Type Approval and Numbering, and their responsibilities will include: ● Issuing Type Approval Certificates for approved equipment, Provisional Letter of Authority, Label authorisations for self-print and printing of ICASA Labels ● To develop, maintain and implement technical standards for various equipment type ● Maintaining, implementing and reviewing of the Type Approval Framework ● Implementation of the Market Surveillance Plan ● Development and implementation of MOUs with Key Stakeholders ● Developing and implementing procedure manuals ● Collaborating with Finance in relation to Type Approval revenues ● Managing the database of approved equipment ● Participating in and representing ICASA at National and International technical forums.
 
Minimum Qualifications and Experience ● A relevant 4-year Degree or NQF Level 7 qualification in Engineering (e.g. Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Radio Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering) ● A Postgraduate qualification in  Engineering or Management studies will be an added advantage ● A minimum of 7 years' technical work experience in the Telecommunications and/or Broadcasting industry ● A minimum of 3 years Management experience or 4 years Specialist experience in Type Approval / Product Compliance.
