HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (HDA) WATER PUMPS SCAM
TELL TALE SIGNS OF THIS SCAM:
1. All South African Government Tenders are freely available on www.etenders.gov.za for browsing.
2. There is no such Tender online or in the Tender Bulletins.
3. The HDA is a Housing Development Agency. The HDA website and social media accounts all warn about such a scam. This scammers tried their luck in the previous weeks, but failed to scam the public as people are now becoming vigilante.
The HDA has two primary objectives. The first is to identify, acquire, hold, develop and release well-located land and buildings for human settlement. The second is to provide project delivery services in the form of planning, capacity support and capability, and project management. The HDA works on projects in particular areas at the specific request of provinces and local municipalities. - HDA website

4. The CSD system allows for businesses to list all the goods they can supply. Therefore a legitimate RFQ for water pumps will not be sent to companies that only supply stationary, catering, cleaning etc, a RFQ for water pumps or heavy machinery. These Scammers are basically trying to hard and getting desperate as always.
5. The official Contact number for the HDA is (011) 544 1000
6. The name used on the email belongs to a HDA official, that the scammers simply found online & decided to use.
7. @thehda-gp.co.za is not the official DOH domain. Housing Development Agency uses @thehda.co.za.
8. Under the current system used by all government bodies called the Central Suppliers Database (CSD). All Other information like Tax Clearance, UIF, CIPC info, Banking Details etc. are all already linked and registered automatically to CSD. So there is no reason for anybody sending a RFQ to be making such requests unless they have alterior motives.
