HEAD OF DIVISION: CORPORATE AFFAIRS 
Paterson grade D4 
Remuneration package: R1, 420, 177 per annum (Cost to Council) 
 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
 Bachelor’s (NQF L7) degree in Media/Communications/ Public Relations / Marketing. 
 Postgraduate degree (NQF L8) in Media Studies/ Corporate Communications/ Branding/Marketing, and a postgraduate qualification in management would be an added advantage. 
 At least 6 years communication experience, preferably in a media/health related environment, 
 3 - 5 years’ experience of analysis of media reports and complaints, 
 3 - 5 years management or supervisory experience in a Public Relations environment. 
 
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS 
 Knowledge of both the communication and media landscape in the country 
 Knowledge of press releases 
 Customer Liaison 
 Change Management 
 Research skills 
 Computer Literacy (MS Office, and Outlook). 
 
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 
 Development and implementation of an information management strategy. 
 Manage media enquiries, including issuing of press releases, responses, facilitation of media interviews and conceptualization and implementation of press conferences. 
 Improve and enhance the image of the HPCSA by managing excellent media relations. 
 Facilitate the strategic monitoring and evaluation of media coverage and dissemination to key stakeholders. 
 Manage media relationships and strategic planning of crisis communications and interviews as well as compilation of reports. 
 Facilitate effective production of all communications to board members through newsletters, bulletin magazines, e-zines and through the Annual Report. 
 Manage assessment and measurement of the effectiveness of the HPCSA’s communication efforts through customer surveys. 
 Advise Council of positive/negative reporting by Media and public perceptions and recommend remedial action. 
 Strategically manage the communication aspect of the HPCSA. 
 Conduct educational and awareness roadshows.
