GEMS recruitment process

PROJECT MANAGER
Type: Permanent
Salary: The total remuneration package will be based on qualifications and experience.
There is currently a Project Manager vacancy. The Project Manager role will report directly to the Senior Manager: Project Management and Strategic Support, and forms part of the Office of the Chief Operations Officer. The position is permanent and will be based at GEMS Head Office.
The total remuneration package for this position is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
The Project Manager will be required to provide support to the Senior Manager: Project Management and Strategic Support through the implementation of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
• End to end management of projects including effective initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and reporting
• Manage the development of critical project governance documents including business plans, project charters, project management and change management plans and secure the acceptance and approval by the relevant project stakeholders
• Manage quality outcomes of projects through the definition of quality management plans in agreement with relevant project sponsors
• Ensure the proactive management of project risks and issues to effectively contain the Scheme’s risk exposure
• Manage the project team’s performance in the implementation of project tasks and the delivery of all projects on schedule, within the approved scope in line with project objectives
• Effective identification and management of project stakeholders, including the management of stakeholder expectations in line with project objectives
• Manage project communication through timeous and regular reporting to various stakeholders and forums and the escalation of issues that cannot be resolved by the project team
• Ensure effective closure of projects including documenting close-off reports and lessons learned
• Participate in divisional strategic planning processes and contribute towards initiatives and campaigns to drive a high performance PMO
Qualification, skills and competencies requirements are:
• At least a 3-year Degree/Diploma or NQF 6 equivalent in Project Management/Business Administration/ Information Technology / Operations Management/ Engineering or related field
• A post-graduate qualification and/or project management certification will serve as an advantage
• Experience in implementing Healthcare Systems and Technologies will serve as an advantage
• At least 5 to 8 years’ experience in Project Management with at least 3 years of experience at a management/supervisory level
• Hands-on experience and proficiency in the application of project management methodologies (PMBoK, Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Prince II, etc.)
• Communication skills and analytical expertise
• A team player with a strong collaborative implementation approach
• Knowledge of the South African medical scheme industry
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with service providers
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and own vehicle and be willing to travel at short notice

SPECIALIST: MEDICINE BENEFITS MANAGEMENT
Type: Permanent
Salary: The total remuneration package will be based on qualifications and experience.
There is currently a Specialist: Medicine Benefits Management vacancy. The Specialist: Medicine Benefits Management role will report directly to the Senior Manager: Clinical Risk Management, and forms part of the Healthcare Management division. The position is permanent and will be based at GEMS Head Office.
The total remuneration package for this position is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
The Specialist: Medicine Management will be required to provide support to the Senior Manager: Clinical Risk Management through the implementation of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
• Management of the utilisation, adjudication and payment of Medicine benefits as per Scheme rules
• Implementation of the regulatory compliance measures in relation to the adjudication and payment of Pharmaceutical Benefits
• Management of the technical aspects of the Courier Pharmacy Service Providers and Chronic Medicine benefits provided through the Courier Pharmacies
• Management of the interface and inter SPN processes between
- the Courier Pharmacies and the Pharmacy Benefit Management Services Provider
- the Pharmacy Benefit Management Services Provider and the Administrator
- the Pharmacy network manager and the Courier Pharmacies
• Attend various Forums and make valuable contributions by providing expertise needed to ensure sound management of medicine management services’
• Draft member communication to support the correct and optimal utilisation of the medicine benefits
Qualification, skills and competencies requirements are:
• Minimum 3-year Diploma/Degree in Medical/Clinical Sciences (B Pharm qualification advantageous)
• Minimum 5 years’ work experience in the healthcare funding/medical scheme industry including two years at management / supervisory level
• Solid Medicine Benefits Operations experience and Medical Schemes operational insight • Analytical with excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and own vehicle and be willing to travel at short notice
