SENIOR MANAGER: RISK MANAGEMENT
Type: Permanent 
Salary: The total remuneration package will be based on qualifications and experience. 
The position of Senior Manager: Risk Management is vacant. The Senior Manager: Risk Management will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and forms part of the Risk Management and Compliance Division. The position is based in Head Office in Pretoria.
The total remuneration package for this position is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
 The Senior Manager: Risk Management will be required to provide support to the Chief Compliance Officer through the implementation of the following 
 
 
Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
  • Define the Scheme Risk Management Strategy based on Risk Management Best Practice, the Scheme Risk Management Maturity and Scheme strategy.
  • Ensure regular audit of the risk management processes and ensure remediation of findings.
  • Define the Scheme Risk Management Policy.
  • Ensure standardised and best in class risk management processes and practices, contained in the Scheme Risk Management Frameworks, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure fit for purpose Scheme Risk Management Tools, Reporting templates and Technologies. • Ensure compliance to the Risk Management Policy, SoP and Risk Management Plan • Establish Risk Management Training and Awareness Programs.
  • Ensure adequate research of the Scheme risk environment.
  • Ensure pervasive risk management delivery on Strategic, Divisional, process, project and operational levels, and outsourced service provider environments.
  • Entrench risk management in Scheme decision-making and governance processes.
  • Establish appropriate risk appetite and tolerance metrics and measures.
  • Ensure a robust risk management process that is consistently employed to identify, evaluate and assess risks, risk response strategies, and additional risk mitigations.
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation of risk mitigations and effectiveness.
  • Establish appropriate risk reporting, communication and integration.
  • Manage the GEMS Enterprise-Wide Risk Management function through effective planning, positioning and execution.
  • Establish the appropriate structures and human resources capacity for effective risk management.
  • Manage the performance and strategic targets of the risk management function.
 
Qualifications, skills and competencies requirements are:
  • A degree in Risk Management or equivalent qualification. 
  • Minimum 8 years functional risk management experience; 5 years of which should be at a management level.
  • Risk management experience, including the management of a risk management Center of Excellence, and the management of risks at strategic, tactical and operational levels.
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management processes, frameworks and in particular of the ISO 31000 standard for risk management
  • Experience in managing risk in various business functions such as HR, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Project Management, Operations Management, IT.
  • Certified Risk Management Practitioner and/or Certified Risk Management Professional would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the Medical Aid, Medical and Insurance industries will be advantageous
