POSITION: MANAGER: MICROBIOLOGY 
SALARY SCALE : R 651 082.00 - R 845 146.00 PER ANNUM Excl. benefits 
TASK GRADE : TK15

REQUIREMENTS : BSc degree or B Tech with Microbiology or Equivalent. Must have considerable experience Eight (8+) years in a Microbiology Laboratory. Minimum five (5+) year experience in an Accredited Laboratory (ISO/IEC17025). Sound experience (Five) 5+ years in a supervisory position within a Testing Laboratory. Valid code EB (08) driver's license. Computer literacy: MS Office. Registration with relevant Professional Body as a Professional Natural Scientist. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES : Manage and monitor the microbiology section through ensuring the analysis of samples, approval of test results. Participating in internal and external audit processes, ensure management of laboratory information management system. Aligning functions and service delivery objectives by ensuring provision of adequate resources. Drafting input for capital and operational expenditure estimates to support plans and objectives. Developing an equipment procurement plan for the function, formulating and providing specifications. Monitoring and reviewing the microbiology workflow against specific timelines and set objectives. Initiating programs and projects for the microbiology function. Reviewing and updating QMS documents. Reviewing and authorizing results in line with the QMS. Ensuring adherence and compliance with ISO/IEC17025 and SANAS requirements. Approving and ensuring test reports issued to customers conform with the QMS and SANAS requirements. Conducting research for the enhancement of knowledge and innovation. Providing inputs to monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, referring to services and performance related to management of the function. Liaising with the relevant stakeholders regarding compliance to legislative requirements e.g., SANS241, General requirements. Implementing, monitoring, and reviewing the workflow responsibilities among subordinates, and effecting changes.
