Title of the Job: Legal Counsel 
Grade / Level C5 (Paterson) 
Location: Sandton 
Salary: Market related

Overall Responsibility: The incumbent is expected to provide professional Legal advisory services for the Gauteng Partnership Fund.

Key Performance Areas: 
1. Assist the Manager: Legal, Compliance and Risk to prepare/review draft legal documents. 
2. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that legal issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved. 
3. Support business in negotiation, execution, and closing of all project documentation.
4. Manage litigation by and against the GPF, including criminal matters. 
5. Assist with debt collection on defaulting loans. 
6. Coordinate with external service providers on legal aspects of due diligence, bid preparation, and project financing structures, including dealing with conveyancing issues. 
7. Work with internal teams to ensure timely compliance with all conditions precedent and other contractual obligations. 
8. Support the GPF in responding to various client requirements, ensuring GPF’s contractual, financial, and reputational position is fully protected. 
9. Facilitate and maintain effective contract Management system. 
10. Compliance and agreement management 
11. Conduct legal research. 
12. Assist with monitoring, legislative, and regulatory compliance requirements and incorporation into GPF policies and procedures. 
13. Assist with Compliance Training in order to ensure that the GPF is compliant with all applicable legislation. 
14. Assist with corporate legal advisory services.

Qualification & Experience: A minimum of Appropriate recognized legal qualification or related qualification at NQF Level 7. Ideally: a relevant (NQF 8) Postgraduate qualification. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as the Legal Advisor/ Counsel or attorney. Admission as an attorney or advocate
