ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATION (3 Posts)
Directorate: Community Development Salary: R376 596.00 per annum (plus benefits)Centres: • West-Rand (1 Post) • Pretoria (2 Posts) REF: REFS/008699
REQUIREMENTS: • Matric plus NQF level 6/National Diploma in areas of Social Sciences/Public Administration or relevant qualification, coupled with 3 - 5 years’ experience, of which 3 years must be in community development environment • An in-depth understanding of public participation and community development will be an additional advantage.
Competencies: * Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of policies and government practices * Planning and execution skills * Leadership, Supervisory and Management skills * Ability to delegate with empowerment * Understanding of people management, intergovernmental relations and using Information Communication and Technology to achieve work objectives * The nature of the work environment requires constant travelling and a valid driver’s license is required.
DUTIES: • Supervise the work of Community Development Workers (CDW’s) including: • Coaching and mentoring field workers • Participate in the design and implementation of strategic plans, vision and operational plans • Align the unit’s vision and mission to that of the Department • Convene regular staff meetings for alignment of CDW work with the annual performance plan

• Ensure that the unit’s resources are utilised in line with the PFMA • Network with various directorates internally and externally, with all spheres of government including officials in municipalities, other government agencies and section 21 companies to develop an integrated government response towards addressing community challenges • Ensure that targets are met and deadlines are adhered to • Facilitate strategic intervention to ensure efficient service delivery • Understand environmental factors that may bring volatility in the work environment and mitigation measures thereof. Case management: * Receiving referrals and managing escalations* Collate information, consolidate CDW cluster reports for data analysis, synthesis and processing * Develop a work plan and a monitor tool for work done by CDWs daily, translating to weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports * Align the performance management system with the teams and individuals’ performance development plans.
