JOB SUMMARY
To ensure that archival materials/collection in both digital and print format are acquired, created and managed in a comprehensive fashion at Freedom Park.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Acquisition of archival material (both digital, born digital and print materials
- Processing of archival material (arranging, describing, preservation classification, accessioning and de-accessioning and referencing of archival collections and materials
- Development and implementation of policies and standard for arranging and description of archival materials
- Coordinate staff assigned to assist in the processing of archival materials
- Digitization of archival materials
- Participate in outreach activities
- Evaluation of the Pan African Archives
PREREQUISITES
- BA Degree (Honours) in Archival Studies/BA. Honours (Information Science with Archival Studies. Master degree in Information Science with Archival Studies will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5years experience with digitisation projects and/or archival repository and supervisory experience.
- Good knowledge in African and South African history and culture, current archival standards and practices plus digitization of archival resources.
- Competent experience in interviewing skills and project management.
- Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite) competency.
