Firstly, to the candidature of excess employees who are at a level equivalent to that of the advertised vacancy. Secondly, to the candidature of employees other than those referred to in the above paragraph i.e. non-excess employees and excess employees at lower/ higher levels than that of the advertised vacancy and lastly, to the candidature of non-public servants. HIV and AIDS EDUCATION PROGRAMME, INCLUSIVE AND SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION
 
APPOINTMENT OF EDUCATION CHANGE AGENTS FOR TEACHING AND LEARNIING (ECATL’S) ON A TEMPORARY BASIS UNTIL 31 MARCH 2021.
 
POST: Education Change Agents For Teaching and Learning:
WORKSTATION: Various schools in Motheo District (Reference No. PS6/2020/01) x 7 posts, Thabo Mofutsanyane District (Reference No. PS6/2020/02) x 19 Posts, Lejweleputswa District (Reference No. PS6/2020/03) x 8 posts, Fezile Dabi District (Reference No. PS6/2020/04) x 9 posts and Xhariep District (Reference No. PS6/2020/05) x 7 posts.
WORKING HOURS: Alternate working hours from 7h30 until 15h30- Weekends and school holidays included when required.
 
MEASURES:
Applications are invited from unemployed youth with Gr 12 to be appointed as Education Change Agents for Teaching and Learning (ECATL) to support schools with the implementation of prevention programs as well as psychosocial challenges experienced by learners.
 
The programme will be school based in township school and preferably applicants must be residing in the towns selected to avoid incurring unnecessary expenses. Therefore an indication of the schools and towns is required for logistical purpose.
 
Applicants must kindly note that the Education Department will not carry any costs incurred by the applicant through travelling to and from the place of residence and the school.
 
All Applications must be submitted on a Z83 form, obtainable from any Public Service Department, or the website. (www.education.fs.gov.za) Applications must be accompanied by a comprehensive CV, original certified copies of Grade 12 certificate and SA identity document.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
 Fluent in English Sesotho and/or Afrikaans.
 Minimum 1 years’ experience in training youth/working with youth/Peer Education programmes at schools, churches or reputable organizations and NGO’s.
 Trained as a Child and Youth Care Worker/Auxiliary Social Worker.
 Trained in Life Skills programs/Peer Education Programs.
 
RECOMMENDATIONS:
 Good Language skills
 Person of good character.
 Good facilitation skills
 Report writing skills communicate and liaise effectively with learners and teachers.
 
CONDITIONS
 Applicants are limited to SA citizens only.
 A stipend to be paid to the ECATL’s on a monthly basis according to the evidence or proof of attendance to the program and work.
 ECATL programme does not guarantee contract or full time employment at the end of the programme.
 Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
 Successful candidates will sign an agreement with the Department of Education outlining the conditions and duration of the programme.
 
DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED IN SCHOOLS
 Applicants will be allocated two schools to support, working form Monday to Friday.
 Facilitate the establishment of active Peer Education clubs in schools
 Implementation of Prevention programs
 Support to the School Based Support Team.
 Support teaching and learning through after school sessions. Support to vulnerable learners, orphans, learners who are heading households/absenteeism.
 Offering assistance with homework after school, study skills.
 Support learners and parents with access to services. E.g. Birth certificates, ID
Documents. Accessing of medications or Health services.
 Collaboration with stakeholders.(Government departments, NGO’s)

The responsibilities of Coordinators will be to monitor and support ECATL’s with the implementation of prevention programs as well as psychosocial challenges experienced by learners.

 Communicate and liaise effectively with Provincial, District Offices and Schools.
 Data Capturing and Management
 Computer literate.

 ECATL programs does not guarantee a full time employment contract at the end of the program.

 Conduct regular onsite support visits to ECATL’s at selected schools to monitor support and coordinate activities.

 Establish clear communication channels with schools
