BACKGROUND
The Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training (FASSET) requires the services of a suitably qualified candidate to lead the organisation. The role is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and the Chief Executive Officer will report to the Board of the Authority.
The Chief Executive Officer will be accountable for the implementation and direction of, and the executive leadership on the delivery of the strategic objectives of FASSET. They will also be accountable for the functions of compliance and policy development, organisational risk and performance management in line with PFMA regulations and applicable legislation.
FASSET further seeks the skills of an innovative, highly motivated, impact driven leader who can define and maintain sound business processes, programmes, stakeholder relations and organisational culture.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- Ensure that the SETA’s mandate and strategic objectives are achieved
- Strong business acumen, governance and stakeholder relations track record
- Maintain organisational stability through the development and implementation of standards and controls, systems and procedures and regular performance and programme evaluation.
- Contribute to and support the statutory, legislative and shareholder processes and initiatives
- Innovate upon and improve stakeholder relations, service delivery, operational effectiveness and efficiency
- Manage and Develop the organisations employees, labour relations and skills development, capacity and resources
- Provide leadership on the transformation and capacity building initiatives of FASSET.
- Drive Research and Knowledge Capability and Sharing and ensure that the organisation produces, organises and makes data accessible to the sector
- Act as a liaison between the Board, Management and the Department of Higher Education, Training and Innovation
- Maintain high ethical standards personally and professionally.
Qualification, Experience and Skills Required
Minimum Requirements :
An NQF level 8 Commercial qualification or an allied field or an NQF level 7 in a similar area with a minimum of 8 years management experience
- 8 – 10 years relevant Senior Management or Executive experience
- Proven track record in management in financial services, economic development and / or the public sector
- Postgraduate Qualification in Public / Business management / Administration or equivalent.
- Sound knowledge of the PFMA and relevant governance legislation and frameworks
Preferred Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years at Executive management level is preferred
- Applicable experience in the Public Sector environment.
