MATHEMATICS TEACHING ASSISTANT 
WESTLAKE CAMPUS 
This is a CONTRACT position 1 May 2019 to 31 December 2019. 
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
• To provide academic support to NCV Level 2 – 4 and N1 – N3 students in the Mathematics classroom 
• Offer extra classes 
• Design and present Mathematics tutorials as a part of an intervention strategy 
• Support mathematics Lecturer in the classroom by assisting with at risk students 
• Assess, monitor and record students’ progress & provide feedback to both student and lecturer 
• Execute assigned duties linked to the improvement of student performance in Mathematics 
 
REQUIREMENTS
• Recognised qualification – at least REQV 13 (Matric + 3 years) with Mathematics taken to at least 2nd year level 
• Computer Literate 
• Language proficiency in English 
• Must be proactive, creative & self-motivated 
• Excellent administrative, organisational and management skills 
• Excellent communication skills 
 


RECOMMENDATIONS
• A recognised teaching qualification that allows for teaching at FET phase 
• Experience with teaching Mathematics at Grade 10 – 12/ NQF level 2-4 
• Sound knowledge of best teaching practices & assessment strategies 
• Registered as an Assessor and/or Moderator
