THE ENTITY 
The entity is responsible for the management of nature conservation within the Province of KwaZulu-Natal including protected areas as well as development and promotion of ecotourism and facilities within the protected areas. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife wishes to appoint suitable candidates into the two (2) positions of Payroll Supervisor. 
 
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 
To supervisor and ensure accurate payment and processing of salaries and the reconciliation thereof, including the processing of all third-party and related payroll payments in compliance with the relevant legislation 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Grade 12/National Senior Certificate is mandatory 
  • National Diploma in Payroll/ Human Resources (HR)/ Accounting/ Financial Management is mandatory

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife wishes to appoint a suitable candidate into the position of Invasive Species Scientist. 
 
PURPOSE OF THE JOB 
To develop, co-ordinate and implement appropriate research, strategies, policies, and awareness to prevent, manage and reduce the threats posed by alien invasive species to the biodiversity and ecosystem services of KwaZulu-Natal. The post reports to the Scientific Manager: Conservation Research and Assessment. 
 
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY 
The incumbent will be based at the Entity’s Head Office in Pietermaritzburg and will service the needs of the protected area estate (State, private and communal) and biodiversity conservation generally across the province of KZN. 
 
QUALIFICATION:
  • Minimum of MSc in Natural Sciences/Invasion Biology or equivalent is mandatory 
  • PhD in Natural Sciences/Invasion Biology or equivalent will be an advantage 
  • A valid code B Driver’s license is mandatory 
  • Registration as a SACNASP Professional Natural Scientist will be an added advantage. 
 
EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in providing scientific decision support and advice regarding alien species within the field of conservation. 
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in undertaking research on and implementation of alien species control programs is desired 
  • Demonstrated experience in research and monitoring methodology and statistics is required. 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 
  • Advise Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife’s Management on alien invasive species management issues.
  • Manage, conduct and facilitate priority research, surveys and monitoring related to alien species. 
  • Develop and maintain biodiversity databases and spatial information systems relating to alien species. 
  • Produce reports, information synthesis and publications in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. 
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate scientific studies that enhance understanding of the impact of alien species on biodiversity. 
  • Contribute to development of protected areas and focal species management plans. 
  • Contribute to development of organisational policies, strategic plans and risk assessment protocols to promote management effectiveness.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 
The District Ecologist South West will provide ecological and scientific advice and information to support conservation decision-making within the Harry Gwala District Municipality in southern KZN. The ecologist conducts research and monitoring to address key biodiversity management issues, acts as a bridge between science and management by sourcing and interpreting scientific information for managers and policy-makers, contributes to protected area and species management plans, guides protected area expansion, identifies and prioritises management research needs, and facilitates activities of external scientists conducting management-oriented research. 
 
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY: 
Based at the West Regional Office at Midmar, the area of responsibility for the District Ecologist South West will primarily be the Harry Gwala District Municipality (protected areas, buffer zones, biodiversity in general), but may include other District Municipalities, and will undertake work in other parts of the province in support of conservation and monitoring activities. 
 
QUALIFICATION:
  • Minimum of a MSc. in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Biological Sciences or relevant equivalent is mandatory. 
  • A PhD in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Biological Sciences or relevant equivalent is preferred. 
  • Must be able to qualify to register as a Professional Natural Scientist with SACNASP. 
  • Valid B Drivers licence is mandatory. 
 
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in providing scientific decision support and advice within the field of conservation, 
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in undertaking research and/or biological monitoring (i.e. demonstrated experience in research and monitoring methodology and statistics). Knowledge and experience of the ecosystems of KwaZulu-Natal, and specifically those within the grassland and forest biomes is highly desirable. 
  • Minimum of two years of staff management and administration experience is desirable.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 
The Park Ecologist Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (HiP) will lead a team that provides ecological and scientific advice and information to support decision making for the conservation management of biodiversity within HiP and the Park zone of influence/buffer zone. The team conducts research and monitoring to address key biodiversity management issues, acts as a bridge between science and management by sourcing and interpreting scientific information for managers and policy-makers, identifies and prioritises management research needs and facilitates activities of external scientists conducting management-oriented research. 
 
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY 
Based at Hluhluwe Research Centre in HiP, the area of responsibility for the Park Ecologist HiP will primarily be inside the Park, while also including work in the buffer zone adjacent to the Park, but undertaking work in other parts of the East-Region in support of the regional team may be required from time to time. 
 
QUALIFICATION:
  • Minimum of a MSc. in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Biological Sciences or equivalent is mandatory.
