The KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Board, trading as Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, is a PFMA Schedule 3C public entity established in terms of the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Management Act (Act No. 9 of 1997).
THE ENTITY:
The entity is responsible for the management of nature conservation within the Province of KwaZulu-Natal including protected areas as well as development and promotion of ecotourism and facilities within the protected areas. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife wishes to appoint a suitable candidate into the position of Chief Finance Officer
JOB PURPOSE:
To drive financial services department through the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a financial management strategy, including a medium-term income and expenditure framework, facilitate prudent financial management, ensure overall financial sustainability and support the achievement of the overarching goals/objectives of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.
REQUIREMENTS:
• A post graduate degree in accounting and finance plus extensive experience in financial management. CA will be an added advantage.
• Proven relevant senior management experience in a large organization
• Essential attributes include a participative management style and the ability to relate to staff and a team-player with a highly innovative mindset.
• Strong leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills would be advantageous as would the ability to participate in long term planning to ensure the optimal performance of the organization.
• Knowledge of budgetary and treasury functions, PMFA and treasury regulations.
• Display demonstrated business acumen and an understanding of business processes.
• Dedication to the promotion and practice of the principles of good governance.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• Driving the development and formulation of strategy, policy, protocols, and process.
• Building partnerships, interacting, and maintaining sound relationships with highly diverse role-players/stakeholders across a broad spectrum locally, nationally and in cases internationally.
• Providing strategic leadership within the context of the integrated development plan, framework for institutional transformation and reform and related organizational imperatives.
• Driving the development of appropriate financial strategies, polices and implantation plans to re-direct the organization’s resources to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
• Providing strategy and policy guidance, in respect of business planning and budgeting processes, in line with the Medium-Term income and Expenditure Framework (MTIEF).
• Leading and motivating diverse staff within the context of participative management.
• Diving performance in the financial services division.
• Project planning and attending to Principal Officer functions for retirement funds.
• Accountability for compliance with the GRAP, PMFA and Treasury Regulations.
• Create a conducive Supply Chain Management environment to facilitate black Economic Empowerment procurement.

SENIOR LEGAL ADVISOR (E1)

THE ENTITY:
The entity is responsible for the management of nature conservation within the Province of KwaZulu-Natal including protected areas as well as the development and promotion of ecotourism and facilities within the protected areas. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife wishes to appoint a suitable candidate for the position of Senior Legal Advisor
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide oversight of the Legal department which provides a comprehensive legal service to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (EKZNW) and ensure the organization is adequately protected from legal and contractual risks and that the organisation is legally compliant.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Relevant and recognised B degree/ LLB is mandatory
• Qualification in Environmental Law will be an added advantage
• Admitted as an Attorney / Advocate in the High Court of South Africa
• Code EB Driver`s Licence
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 5 years specialist experience in legal environment, managing litigation and providing legal opinions, drafting contracts, agreements, internal policies and negotiating contracts and settlements.
• Minimum 3 years in a Conservation Environment will be an added advantage.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
• Experience in criminal, civil and labour litigation.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• Advise and manage litigation files in civil, criminal, and labour matters in both High and Magistrates Courts and the CCMA.
• Negotiate and draft contracts on behalf of EKZNW (all clusters)
• Ensure quality service to both internal and external customers
• Support to EKZNW Board and Management regarding litigation issues and procedures and the quantification of all legal transactions
• Responsible for providing legal opinions
• Conduct legal research i.e., legislation, case studies and analyse information gathered to facilitate sound decision
• Liaise with the other department attorneys, state attorneys, state law advisers and other stakeholders to benchmark EKZNW legal services and programmes within the industry
• Liaise with legal business partners/ external service providers (outsources work) and ensure that all contracted work is completed in accordance with the agreed terms of reference
• Monitor and report legal compliance within EKZNW and recommend appropriate interventions when required
• Initiate litigation or defend claims on behalf of the organisation
• Draft and develop policies and provide legal advice to all levels of operation
