Special Conditions: •40 hours, 5-day week. •Shift work and Standby- as and when required and as per employment contract. •Incumbents must be prepared to work overtime when required to meet the exigencies of the service. •Incumbents will be subject to transfer/relocation to any of the Unit’s depots or divisions as required. •Protective clothing as per the PPE schedule. •An assessment and selection process will be used to select successful candidates for the Learner Technician training programme. •Successful candidates will be engaged in a 3-year fixed term contract to undertake training as Learner Technicians. •Successful candidates in this programme will be required to meet the minimum standards of development/performance. •Those not complying will be performance managed, with the possibility of termination of the programme if no improvements to meet the minimum standards are noted. •Successful completion of this programme does not mean that the employee has an inherent right to be placed or promoted to a permanent Technician post.

This forms part of the city’s social investment and one of its development programmes which is aligned to the Municipality’s Integral Development Plan.
 
A call for applications for the Sundry Grant-in-Aid 2025/2026 financial year will open from the 01 June 2025 to the 31 July 2025.
