We have an exciting opportunity at our Heidelberg Factory for a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Officer to join our team.


The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety, and environmental legislation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • Fire Prevention and Fighting Courses.
  • Relevant HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, SAMTRAC) preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in FMCG environment.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Technical knowledge of OHS legislation, standards, and best practices.
  • Knowledge and contextual understanding of risk management.
  • Knowledge and contextual understanding of HACCP and related legislation.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Project planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and standards across the plant.
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, SHE meetings and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead incident/accident investigations and prepare detailed reports with root cause analyses and preventive recommendations.
  • Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and support certification programs (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, etc.).
  • Maintain safety documentation, including permits, inspection records, and training files.
  • Support emergency preparedness programs, including drills and emergency response coordination.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the site’s safety culture.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external stakeholders as necessary.
  • Ensure proper waste management and environmental protection practices.

Creditors Clerk - Pretoria - Retail


A job opportunity within our Company exists for a Creditors Clerk to join the Finance Team.


The ideal candidate will mainly be responsible for processing of invoices from suppliers into the accounting system, reconciliation of creditors accounts and preparation of documentation for payments, and maintenance of creditors records.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 (Matric Certificate).
  • Tertiary Qualification (desirable) or studying towards a Bookkeeping / Finance Degree would be advantageous.

 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum of 1 – 3 year’s work experience in a similar role.
  • Accounting System experience would be advantageous

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 

  • Sage 200 Evolution.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office with a thorough understanding of MS. Excel at a Basic/Intermediate Level.
  • Meat Matrix experience would be an advantage.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to operate computerised accounting, spreadsheets, sand word-processing programs at a proficient level.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive, organised, able to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Good understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles.

1. Monthly/Weekly Reconciliation

  • Reconciling Vendor Accounts.
  • Ensuring Vendor accounts are paid up to date.
  • Follow up on reconciling items.
  • Ensuring all Vendor Account Statements are received.
  • Preparation and allocating of payments.
  • Updating accrual report.
  • Sending out all remittances.

2. Fixed monthly recording

  • Ensuring all fixed monthly tax invoices are received and captured within the deadline.
  • Calculate accruals and update report for all fixed monthly expenses.
  • Ensuring payments for all fixed monthly invoices are made by the due date.

3. Invoice Handling

  • Ensuring all Tax Invoices are valid as per SARS Regulations (5 Point Check).
  • Capturing of Invoices through Meat Matrix and Sage 200 Evolution.
  • Filing of all documentation.

4. Vendor Maintenance

  • Completion of New Credit Applications.
  • Maintaining Vendor details.
  • Loading of new/existing beneficiaries.

5. Other

  • Taking phone calls and answering billing questions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing of three staff members
  • Creditors management:
  • Management of staff members to ensure that the company’s internal controls in terms of invoice capturing within the set deadlines are adhered to
  • Various important finance reconciliations which will assist both operations and the finance department and reconciliations between the ERP system and financial reporting system
  • Posting journals on SAGE Evolution to ensure accurate and complete financial records
  • Reviewing staff recons and approving payments on internet banking system
  • Assisting with year end auditors questions applicable to the position
  • Various other administrative functions as required by finance staff or the Processing Director of the factory

 

Skills required:

  • Attention to detail is important
  • Strong analytical-, financial- and accounting skills
  • Proficient in Excel
  • SAGE Evolution and Meat Matrix ERP system knowledge would be beneficial

Eskort is seeking three qualified and experienced Artisans to join the Maintenance team. We are seeking individuals with a passion for machinery, strong technical skills, and a proactive approach. The positions are based in Heidelberg, Gauteng.

 

The candidates will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure efficient plant operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults
  • Install, repair, and commission equipment
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures
  • Minimize downtime through effective troubleshooting

 

Qualification

  • Trade tested Millwright/Electrician or Fitter

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • 5-8 years’ experience as a Millwright/Electrician or Fitter
  • Experience in a meat or pork processing environment.
  • Knowledge of welding, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in CNMMS
  • Knowledge of boilers and air compressors
  • Analytical skills
