Introduction
The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is a statutory body charged with the mandate to regulate the engineering profession in accordance with the Engineering Profession Act 46 of 2000.
Position Summary: The Research Associate position has become available. The position will be responsible for conceptualising, planning, developing and coordinating research projects, involving collection, compilation, and analysis of research data and information. The position will report to the Manager: Research and Knowledge Management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the manager in conducting quantitative and qualitative Research;
- Assist in the design and implementation of research studies;
- Collect, organise, and analyse data using appropriate methodologies and tools;
- Contribute to the interpretation of research findings;
- Prepare clear and concise reports, summaries, and presentations;
- Participate actively in research discussions and contribute insights;
- Assist in project planning, including setting timelines and milestones;
- Ensure that research tasks are completed on schedule;
- Write research proposals;
- Adhere to ethical standards in research;
- Contribute to the writing of research papers and reports;
- Assist with research related administrative tasks.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences/Humanities or related subjects;
- 3 years research experience in a research environment;
- Basic understanding of research methodologies and data analysis techniques;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., statistical software, data visualisation tools).
- Advanced level of computer literacy with sound skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.

Introduction

Position Summary: The Business Process Improvement Specialist position has become available. The position will be responsible for providing business and process improvement analytical and system support to ECSA’s Business Improvement (BI), frequently involving facilitating workshops, individual and group coaching, and change management sessions. The position will report to the Executive: Corporate Services.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement programs, standards & controls, guidelines and schedules and provide assurance to the Executive: Corporate Support Services;
- Direct and evaluate design, standardisation and or customisation of data management training interventions and material such as the Power BI and applicable platforms;
- Provide training on BI framework, and data and analytic solutions;
- Lead the maintenance of the BI software and integration with other systems to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting information;
- Participate in a sustainable process to identify, assess and rank BI risk as these relate to the business and operations;
- Engage internal and external stakeholders on BI related matters, and support operations on BI related engagement;
- Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the BI Function;
- Monitoring the Business Unit expenditure in accordance with approved budget and prevent unauthorised irregular wasteful expenditure;
- Design new processes or improve existing ones by creating flowcharts and diagrams of processes, identifying potential problems and solutions, and implementing changes.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions along with other members of management to set goals for improvement initiatives.
- Communicating with senior managers about the status of projects and providing updates on progress.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management or a related field;
- Postgraduate Diploma is desirable;
- At least five (5) years' experience in business process management at specialist level;
- BPI certification (Lean, Six Sigma);
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification;
- Proficiency in business management software;
- Solid experience in Business Processes design;
- Knowledge of continual improvement tools;
- Advanced verbal, written and presentation skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
