Job Purpose
As required by Regulation, the ETDP SETA seeks to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will manage the entity under the strategic direction of the newly appointed Board. The CEO will develop and implement strategies and plans to achieve the objectives of the entity, and take responsibility for the delivery of these.
 
Core Responsibilities
To implement the approved Strategic and Annual Performance Plans
To manage the day-to-day affairs of the SETA
To manage the budget in accordance with relevant legalisation and policy
To implement decisions of the Board, and
To report on the performance of the entity, including financial reports.
 
Job requirements
A relevant post-graduate degree, and extensive experience at a senior management level. Experience in leadership, education and/or public entities would be an advantage.

 
Knowledge and skills
A proven record of effective strategic planning and execution is required, with a knowledge of operating at a senior level in public administration and in working with multiple stakeholders. Advanced knowledge of relevant policies and legislation applicable to SETAs is required, including National Treasury regulations. Financial management skills are also essential.
Good leadership and communication skills, and the ability to foster relationships, are essential for this position, as well as conceptual and analytical skills.

Remuneration
Remuneration is governed by regulation, which places the salary band at that of a Director General in the public service.

Appointment
The appointment of the CEO is made by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, after approval by Cabinet. The SETA is required to provide three names to the Minister for consideration.
 
The successful candidate will be required to undergo security vetting and sign a performance contract.
