SENIOR MAINTENANCE OFFICER: 5 YEARS FIXED TERM
CENTRE: GREAT FISH RIVER NATURE RESERVE
BAND: C LOWER
Purpose
To assess all maintenance requirements at Great Fish River and ensure all repairs are effected.
Requirements
• Grade 12 with minimum National N3 Certificate in Engineering Studies – Civil Engineering
• A minimum of 2 (two) years relevant experience
• Computer literate
• Driver Licence Code 8
• Certificate in Project Management would be advantageous
Key Performance Areas
• Inspections: Compile itinerary for inspections on Reserves and submit for approval. Conduct site inspection and compile report on all maintenance that has been done.
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee and assist in resolving maintenance issues, including plumbing structural and electrical. obtain project specifications as per maintenance plan and budget.
• Procurement: Arrange project inception meetings with all relevant parties and stakeholder.
Identify and acquire all the documentation relative to the project.
• Contract Management: Conduct regular meetings with service providers to monitor progress of work and report on progress to Manager. Conduct practical completion meeting before defect liability period expires.

Purpose
To provide security to the reserve at field level in order to ensure maximum protection of endangered species, fauna and flora and to maintain set standards.
Requirements
• Grade 12 (twelve)
• 2 (two) years’ experience as a Field Ranger Cadet
• Fire Arm Competency Certificate
• Appointment as an Environmental Management Inspector
• Driver Licence Code 8
• No Criminal Record
Key Performance Areas
• Law Enforcement: Conduct daily patrols, law enforcement, observation posts and extended patrols to ensure that all reserve areas are covered. Gather information on poaching activities and reporting of incidents.
• Safety: Maintain strict self-discipline in accordance with the field ranger code of conduct. Carry and use firearms and ammunition as and when required in accordance with safety procedures.
• Operations: Gather ecological management information during field patrols.
Provide statistics relating to game census and wildlife utilization.

• Law Enforcement: Ensure that field rangers carry out duties within the correct procedures of the Act and ECPTA policies. Ensure that law enforcement duties are carried out.
• Safety: Ensure that health and safety regulations are adhered to. Report defaults and discrepancies
• Operations: Train field rangers in the field of wildlife utilization and work programmes. Provide statistics relating to game census and wildlife utilization.
• People Management: Supervise field rangers, ensure wise utilization of reserve resources. Ensure that staff maintains a high standard of honesty, friendliness and courtesy to all members of the public.

RHINO MONITOR – 5 YEARS FIXED TERM
CENTRE: GREAT FISH RIVER NATURE RESERVE
BAND: C LOWER
Purpose
The Rhino Monitor will support rhino research and monitoring activities on Great Fish River Nature Reserve.
Requirements
• Degree/Diploma in Nature Conservation or equivalent,
• 1 (one) year experience in endangered species monitoring.
• Experience working with dangerous game, in-field tracking and aerial monitoring of rhino (from fixed-wing or helicopter) would be advantageous
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and GIS
• Driver Licence
• Off Road driving (4×4 Capabilities)
• No Criminal Record
Key Performance Areas
• Rhino Monitoring (Data Collection): Deploy camera traps and participate in regular aerial monitoring flights and foot patrols in support of the rhino monitoring efforts. Intensive monitoring of ill and/or injured rhino. Participate in rhino immobilization operations.
• Data Management & Reporting: Capturing and verification of rhino monitoring data. Compilation of rhino monitoring reports as per organizational requirements.
• Reserve and Logistical Support: Coordinate duties and deployment of rhino monitoring rangers., Participate in rhino capture operations. Interface with field rangers and managers to ensure that there is integration and feedback of information.
• Administration: Monitor and maintain all vehicles, motorbikes and equipment e.g. GPS, camera, field equipment, data capturing devices etc.

COMMUNITY LIAISON / STEWARDSHIP OFFICER
CENTRE : REGIONAL OFFICE – GQEBERHA
BAND : C LOWER
Purpose
The Community Liaison/Stewardship Officer will establish reserve liaison forums and maintain on-going communication with external stakeholders.
Requirements
• A three-year tertiary qualification in Nature Conservation.
• A minimum of 2 (two) to 3 (three) years experience in a similar role and/or training
• Good knowledge and understanding of Environmental legislation
• Code EB driving license
Key functions
• Reserve liaison forums – Identify the key stakeholders around the reserve and facilitate the communication of Reserve Plans (AOPS) to the liaison forum.
• Stewardship agreements – Facilitate the negotiation of stewardship agreements and support the implementation of the agreements.
• Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and disseminate information timeously to relevant stakeholders.
• Education and awareness: Assess information and knowledge gaps within local area, align workshops and seminars with environmental calendar dates in different regions.
• Administration and Reporting: Prepare and submit community liaison reports and maintain files and records.
