SENIOR MAINTENANCE OFFICER: 5 YEARS FIXED TERM
CENTRE: GREAT FISH RIVER NATURE RESERVE
BAND: C LOWER

 
Purpose
To assess all maintenance requirements at Great Fish River and ensure all repairs are effected.
 
Requirements
• Grade 12 with minimum National N3 Certificate in Engineering Studies – Civil Engineering
• A minimum of 2 (two) years relevant experience
• Computer literate
• Driver Licence Code 8
• Certificate in Project Management would be advantageous
 
Key Performance Areas
• Inspections: Compile itinerary for inspections on Reserves and submit for approval. Conduct site inspection and compile report on all maintenance that has been done.
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee and assist in resolving maintenance issues, including plumbing structural and electrical. obtain project specifications as per maintenance plan and budget.
• Procurement: Arrange project inception meetings with all relevant parties and stakeholder.
Identify and acquire all the documentation relative to the project.
• Contract Management: Conduct regular meetings with service providers to monitor progress of work and report on progress to Manager. Conduct practical completion meeting before defect liability period expires.

2 X RHINO MONITOR RANGER: 5 YEARS FIXED TERM

Purpose
To provide security to the reserve at field level in order to ensure maximum protection of endangered species, fauna and flora and to maintain set standards.
 
Requirements
• Grade 12 (twelve)
• 2 (two) years’ experience as a Field Ranger Cadet
• Fire Arm Competency Certificate
• Appointment as an Environmental Management Inspector
• Driver Licence Code 8
• No Criminal Record
 
Key Performance Areas
• Law Enforcement: Conduct daily patrols, law enforcement, observation posts and extended patrols to ensure that all reserve areas are covered. Gather information on poaching activities and reporting of incidents.
• Safety: Maintain strict self-discipline in accordance with the field ranger code of conduct. Carry and use firearms and ammunition as and when required in accordance with safety procedures.
• Operations: Gather ecological management information during field patrols.
Provide statistics relating to game census and wildlife utilization.

Intensive monitoring of ill and/or injured rhino. Participate in rhino immobilization operations. • Data Management & Reporting: Capturing and verification of rhino monitoring data. Compilation of rhino monitoring reports as per organizational requirements. • Reserve and Logistical Support: Coordinate duties and deployment of rhino monitoring rangers., Participate in rhino capture operations.
